Skibum,
If you ski you'll need the smaller. No speed records, but you can get up. I've skied with my 32 & it's a DRAG for miles. I can't hold my breath that long. Once my 32 starts to plane, it picks up slip, cavitates or something & jumps from 2200 rpm to 3000 instantly as if the drive came out of the water. My 28 hooks up all the way through the process. Wakeboarding is out of the question unless you ride @ 30mph.
I only pull my worst enemies on the tube.
I was up north today & drove by EKF. Saw your boat sittin out there ski bum, still lookin good. Anyone know how I can acquire the 35' they got there? (no down, low payments & a bigger truck to pull it?) Everyone better get the boats out of the cold & winterized, snows on the way. Learn from me, change the oil in the fall, not the spring & FOG, FOG, ANTIFREEZE, FOG SOME MORE & MORE ANTIFREEZE FOLLOWED BY MORE FOGGER. Wish I could join ya Jon in Mohave. Hope the weather holds for you. I'd like to try your 30 after the thaw.
Get out there, burn some carbon & bring on global warming!

I usually spend every saturday and sunday at snow basin snow skiing, but I do like to water ski and wake board in the summer.
EKF finished winterizing my boat and they have also been trying to get the GPS working on my raceview. The two GPS units that they have tried havn't worked. I might have to wait until spring to get that fixed.

The guys at EKF let me try out a 24 labbed and seemed like the rpms were up around 5200 +. The 24 had some good hole shot. However I am not used to trimming the boat up that high so I probably could have got some more out of it. I was thinking the labbed 26 would get me close to 5200 but I will have to see how everything is running come spring thaw.

Hey SkiBum,
I checked the article last night and it was a 26 @ 5400 so they probably never changed the prop. I think it was 81.7 mph. That explains why your only at 4700-4800 and ~71 or so. General rule is we lose about 600 rpm and 6-9 mph here.
My buddy's Rage with a 496HO (425hp) spins a stock 24 to ~ 4750 and a lab 24 to ~5000 and runs ~68 mph on GPS at Pineview. So I'm assuming you could spin a lab 24 to 5400 and be at 73-74.
You probably just need some more seat time as well. Take Jon (DesertRage) out with you in the Spring as he has been doing extensive testing with, lowers, props trim and such. (Gonna have to call him CBLR Jr
)
I found both PB mags. Do you happen to take 89 to and from work. I live just east of 89 in Layton.

I just happened to have the june issue in my work car and read it today by chance. This is probably not the issue your referring to because the is the Best Boats of 09 Issue. The Powerboat test must have been an earlier than June issue.
I most likely have that also but I would have to take a look.
Anyway here's a scanned copy so you can see it.

Raytart,
Thanks that was awsome of you to scan that for me. I was under the inpression they did a performance review earlier in the year, but since I don't have a subscription I am not sure.
I can't wait for spring.
Dave I take 89 everyday maybe we could meet at grounds for coffee and I could buy you a cup, that is if you like the stuff. I will give you call. Thanks

Skibum,
I'm pretty sure your right. It was a performance review then in another issue for runabout of the year. I'll look through my boatporn stash & see if I can find it. I think Jon lives up north & he's bringing my prop back next week, so maybe I can get it to him to get to you if I find it. I'll look tonight. Or I can just mail it.

If one of the local OSO members to you don't come through with the hard copy, just shoot me a pm and I'll mail it your way. Did you actually pay the msrp? I really like my Heat and I'm sure you will enjoy your Rage. Best of luck and be safe. I'm kicking the idea of a New Flame for next season. But it's a lot of cash to part with. (Sorry kids, no college money, Dad spent it all on another boat).
