I'll be there! Weather permitting I'll leave via water Friday around noon. If it's a wash-out I might trailer up there so we don't have to mess around Saturday morning.

Today looks ok for the run over to Liberty landing, but tomorrow is not looking good. Do they have the run rain or shine?

Hey everyone,

I am going to be running from Liberty State Park to Windandsea for lunch (July 11th). I was looking for a place to throw anchor after and maybe walk on the beach and swim. Any suggestions?
I saw Spermaceti Cove on the map but havnt heard much and also on page 7 post 61 of this thread there were pictures of Navisink Cove which looked nice but I dont know where that is. Can anyone help guide me on the map and let me know what is thes best or if their are any suggestions. Maybe we can all meet up too.

Thanks for the help.

Almost directly across from wndansea is what we call the 'island' (spermaceti cove) I may even be out there myself. The dockmaster, I call him Nelson (not his real name) should be able to show where to go.

Feel free to send me a PM and Ill be glad to help you get in. There is a false channel which is deep but you just need to be sure you know where it is. You can see it clearly on the GPS but its not marked.

We love hanging out on the island.

Frank

Thanks Panther!

We are going to be there Sunday (July 12th) due to the nicer weather. We are in a red 88 Formula 242LS. If anyone is around feel free to join up with us. We are launching out of Liberty State park. I will also be testing a new prop so hopefully that goes well.

Hope to see people out there.

Sorry man but we were out all day yesterday so no boating today, we're laying low.

I was down near the water this morning and it looked pretty calm. It's probably a better day today because yesterday the winds were out of the south at about 20 mph. We had a great run! We left about 11 am and got back to the dock about 7pm.

Have fun!

Well we made it Sunday and it was alot of fun. I think we are going out again this Sunday (7/19/09).

Here is a question for you guys. I usually run the LI sound out of Norwalk and the water is always pretty calm which is great in my size boat (Formula 242LS) but when we went out last week to Sandy Hook the water was pretty rough. There was a strong wind, but what are the conditions usually. I would say it was 3 or 4 footers the day we were out.

Thanks,

Jed

In a 24' you have to pick your days coming across... The stretch between the narrows and Sandy Hook is basically the ocean... But believe me, Sunday was the calm day compared to Saturday...

This Saturday we're heading down to Seaside for Shore Dreams and not sure about Sunday yet. Hopefully we can catch up this time.

Before making trips down just do yourself a favor and check the marine forecast and remember there's usually an afternoon seabreeze out of the south. When you check the marine forecast, check NY Harbor AND Sandy Hook to Manasquan Inlet and mix the two together.
NY Harbor
Sandy Hook to Manasquan

Any wind of 10-15 mph or higher can kick up the waters.
