Be careful running tomorrow, there was a lot of large lumber all through the bay and around the hook. Most of it was pilings floating vertical
, hard to see and the impact would probably drive it clean through the bottom of the boat, even the resin bucket. Lots of other garbage around too.Quote:

I'm going on Sunday from Sandy Hook to Stony Point, NY. I'm sure I'll see plenty of garbage, logs. etc at the Hook and on the Hudson. Originally Posted by mr_velocity

Last time I was out, I noticed logs just floating around the hook. It's impossible to see when going fast, and if you do see it, it's usually too late to react. If I decide to play it safe and go slow the trip is going to take a long time.
My main concern for Sunday is visibility, I need to see the landmarks ahead ...ie. Verrazzano, Lady Liberty, GW Bridge and the Tappanzee. I'm not too worried about the wind and waves at this time.
We made the run. Left about 6:30 yesterday evening. We didn't hit any rain until we were just about at Liberty Landing but it was drizzling and it was only for about 10 minutes.
The ride across was fun, I actually had to drive the boat for a change. Even had to work the throttles 2-3 times.....
The wife was happy! I turned to her about mid way and said, "we would be getting our a$$ kicked in the Scarab". She said; "I know but I'm not even holding on, this is great!"
We took the ferry from LL to NYC for dinner and took the path back to the light rail service back to LL. Ran back around noon time today at 60 mph, then ran about 85 or so when we were close to home. My cheeks and ears were flapping so hard that it started to hurt!
Overall it was an excellent trip!

Weather permitting, I'm hoping to take the ride up the Hudson on Sunday. (Never even tried today. Just looked like the weather was never going to break.)

Glad you guys had a good time and that the rain held out for ya! Originally Posted by Panther

I was out all day today.............I went up the Hudson all the way to the GW Bridge. Then back down to LL for a gas stop. By the way they only have 89 Octane. I was told they get higher octane for certain events ie.. races.
Then blasted past the Verrazzano and couldn't resist hitting the Ocean. Ran the Ocean past Coney Island Inlet and shot across back to the hook.
Ocean was rough today but the boat ran great.
I only saw one other powerboat out. I must have just missed Panther.
