yesrej 06-25-2007 04:27 PM

i boat on the river everyweekend. been to torches and the waterfront many times. croton is a great place to swim and im there alot too. a real good place to swim is bowline but dont go in there if you dont know how. bowline is just south of haverstraw marina. id be up to something if you guys want to do something.

yamjb 06-25-2007 06:19 PM

We launch in Catskill, and we are on the Hudson at least every other weekend.

bowline is just south of haverstraw marina. its a little "pond".
its an awsome place to anchor. croton gets real nasty some days but in bowline its so portected its like glass all day. the problem is getting in there. theres a big opening to get in but there is a big rock wall that you can see at low tide but at high tide you dont know its there. ive watched many people hit it. there is a real small channel to get in and its all deep water inside. if anyone wants to go in let me know. im there alot.

launch usually up in lansingburgh/north troy----near albany but maybe never again. last weekend went to see some friends who live riverside with a dock just north of waterford on the canal---found out the hard way that some 9-10 foot piece of concrete or who-knows-what has fallen into the middle of the canal----putted out between the buoys with the wife and kids and started to accelerate and slammed my skeg, prop, and broke the coupler all at once-----not a real big fan of the hudson right now---anyhow anyone up north here watch out about a half mile or so past the waterford bridge in the canal---friggin jaws is there waitin to chomp someone else----i know my buddy tried to contact the sheriffs or whoever marks and monitors those things but hey---this is ny----they will get to it when someone sinks and it is a real dilemma----for now, im a lake guy all the way------enjoy the weekend all :D

Been to Croton a few times. Wee need to hook up at one point this summer.

Panther 07-09-2007 03:52 PM

Don't get up there as much as we used to. We went up there more when I had the Scarab.

We would spend the day over at Croton and wade in the water up to the beach. One time we went to the south side of Croton but the bottom was rocky and more open. Walking to the beach was tough on the feet.

Also took a trip up to Catskill Creek about 6-7 years ago in the Scarab and spent the night.

Great areas up there!!

These days we usually head south on the ocean or out east on the ocean.

I've been spending my time running around on the ocean this year. In fact, I haven't been north of the VZ Bridge since the NYC poker run. We've been making all of our runs to the south shore of Long Island and down to Pt. Pleasant/Barnegat.
