Hey Phil, just so you don't feel alone. I thrashed one of my engines this Sunday so looks like my season may be over. We're still going down this weekend, Boatless. Figure we'll drive to Jellies for Sat or Sun whichever day Mark is going to be there and just do the torist stuff for the rest of the weekend. Already paid for the room and more importantly already promised the wife and boys so I'm on the hook. Pulling the engine tomorrow, tearing it down on Wednesday. Looks to be a wrist pin, cracked piston or burned a hole in a piston. My guess is a combo wrist pin piston failure. Only 20-30 hours on it so hopefully maybe I can do a new piston and get her going again? Wishful thinking? Hows yours coming along? Any progress? Keep us posted, Bill.

what was the verdict bill?. we should tear those motors out and put a couple 300 x engines on that bad boy. run them *****es all day long pinned. i would have kurt, and only kurt or danny go over them both this winter. just get it done once and right. we are leaving sat am at 5. will be hitting waffle house around 7 am for the ritual breakfast. launching around 9 am. call me later today if possible. mark

thats too bad Bill. I havent really done anything with mine. I dont think that I will be doing anythign with it this summer. Not being able to afford a complete rebuild is holding me back. Well I could probably afford it, but with work the way it is right now, I am not comfortable dropping that kind of cash right now. 300x's would be the way to go for you man. You can run them at 7000rpm all day long with no problems.

Have a good time this weekend guys.

OK, turns out that #1&2 rod bearings spun. Nothing broken. Need to replace the 2 rods, they where really heated up. Crank looks like a polishing should do it or a .010 cut at the worst. Luckily I heard the noise and shut it down before something broke. I tore it all down yesterday. We're going down around noon on Sat. Spend the day checking out some land bound places. Sunday is good for JJ's. Bummer we'll be trucking it down but once we're there who cares. Should have the boat back running in 2 weeks or so maybe get a last trip down before the seasons over? The 300X's would be great but my pockets aren't that deep. All that re-rigging and extra components to switch over. At this point with this boat. I have some big decisions to make over this winter. Goal now is just to get it running again and refill my pockets for the next stage whatever that is? Hey,what's the heli run?
