The trip was a great success.... we had good water, good weather and lot's of fun.

We stayed at Key Harbor Marina in Waretown, they could not have been nicer to us, the owner of the marina Fred and his staff were all very accommodating, would definitely stay there again on our next trip to LBI.

We arrived Sat noonish and after tying up we hit the pool and popped the cold ones so we never left the marina to make it over to Tices Shoal, we ended up there on Sunday afternoon after the morning rain cleared out. What a cool place to hang out and party & there was a lot of that going on....

We had a great ride back North on Monday, the ocean was smooth but it sure was hot when you stopped. Any trip made with no problems is a great trip and this was one of them.

Thanks again to all the info provided for us.

Now looking to go to Sandy Hook for the Sat party we heard about, anyone have details on this???

I'll be heading up to Sandy Hook from Lanoka Harbor (exactly where you were last weekend!) I'll catch up to you somewhere JB!! Sorry missed you on Saturday was awaiting a phone call till about 4pm .. didn't upset my plans or anything just on HIGH ALERT for my cell phone to ring! LOL

Frank's got the scoop on Sandy Hook gig. Panther over here and Geronimo over "there". I am not at all familiar with this place, as I've never had the pleasure ... yet!! Though plan on changing that this weekend ... weather is looking good so far

Saturday the 15th, all day event! It's located in Spermacetti Cove near Sandy Hook. There are two ways to get to the island via the false channel. One is coming in from the bay side, the other from the land side. If you have a color GPS you can see exactly where the false channel is on the map. You have 8-10 ft of water in the false (unmarked) channel and I continually run thru it on plane.

When you get close just give me a call and I'll guide you in. I'll PM you my phone number. If you need anything else just let me know!

Here are appox. gps coordinates;
40°25'4.89"N
73°59'35.56"W

Also, here's a picture of the lay-out. The yellow line is the main channel. The white line is the false channel. The shaded areas are low water. The red line is a submurged sea wall, DO NOT go past it.

When coming in for the first time, I recommend entering from the land side and follow some boats ahead of you. Come down the channel until you reach a large buldhead, about 1/2 mile once in the no-wake zone. You turn left and head a bit south of the tip of the island. Then come in towards the island and when the tip of the island is equal with your boat you turn left again, heading north into the cove.

If you would like to get a spot on the beach I'd recommend getting there early, if not bring a tube of raft to get to shore.

Here's a nice clear satellite picture of the false channel.
