....ok, just my info here, everyone knows...Merc 700s make more than 700...all builders even say, the engines are tweaked up, more like 730-740...
If you look at a 42X versus my OL...the size difference is massive.
I ran with Brad...he couldn't over take me at 95...motors excuses whatever, the boat runs great...as is what's expected for the combination. I also ran with purple haze on the poker run..same deal.
I've also heard the same hoopla the motors were juiced up, I don't buy it....he bought short blocks as I recall..or something...that's not juiced up...
Either or, that day we did have a great run! I wouldn't really care if he out ran me...I think the boat runs well...however if you want to run 100..build the boat to run 110....don't beat the crap out of it every time you go out...that's why you get those nice inspection holes in your blocks...
...it's starting to get old, every damn week there's some new stupid comparison between boats...buy what you want, it runs what it runs...I think inflated egos are a bigger issue than hull design lately
and my "old bottom" design....on all 42's was only revamped in 08...the major differences were the lay-ups until then...haha and the design works fantastic..

Pat, I agree, you are 100% right,.......lots of BIG egos around here. Theres even a boat named EGO 1!.... Luckily, you and I are not in that catagory. Hey, lets get the hell out of here and grab a drink!

Pat is the bottom and layup of 'your' 42 indicative of what is coming out of the factory today?
If the answer is 'no', then it's an old design. Technology has progressed a lot in ten years when it comes to OL!

You're both right. The 42 bottom for the most part remained the same from 2000 to the last one built in 2008. You have to remember in that time frame there were alot of other models that utilized different bottoms and layups. 2004 was the first year of Epoxy 42's. We built alot of 42's. Over the past couple years, the bottoms and layup schedules are quite advanced. They are all awesome running boats!!

Six words, Lack of hull design and efficiency. And I know people like you think the #1 on your boat actually means something. Yes they're more rigid because of the epoxy. A 10,400lbs SL44 is stable at all speeds from 60 to 140. Usually the looser ride comments come from people that have never been "fast" in a boat.
, I do love most boats, #1 vee OL, then sutphen, cig,AT, saber, donzi and baja, formula, fountain. alright I love them all
. I just took some X
, I love gayliner tooo, oops mean bayliner. forrr CaTs SKATER baby,MTI, annnnd wow love you man, mean boats
.
, I feel warm all over
, I love my saber
PS ok just kidding, but did think the ride in harry turners race boat TEAM OBSESSION OL was one hell of a ride, even though we ran 90 to 100 in 2 to 3 footers and hunted down the MV ferry for some airtime in 27 degree temps. another nice ride was in Biggus old cig TG38 in 2 footers. best ride was in gerrys 46 skater doing over a 100 in 5 to 6 footers going to BI. hummm or doing a 140 in it going under the mt hope bridge, while standing up with a video recorder. well I am missing the PATISES playing see yah,

I just bust your guys balls about the cigs. I dont think they're a bad boat. But with that said, I think that at a given dollar amount, you will always find a boat thay will do basically everything better than the cig but at a lower cost. So in reality you aren't paying for the quality or performance of the product, but more so just a name. But to each their own, that's why the marina's are filled with cabin cruisers like jeffs.
