Spring checked a new Polaris 800 Switchback Assault 144 for boon docking. Already have an 04 800ho Renegade ( my trail sled ), 06 600sdi Gade (wife's sled ) and a 2010 TNT in the trailer. Variety is the spice of life after all.

Gladhe8er 08-15-2011 04:42 PM

Forgot to add: home base is usually out of our place in Lake George, NY but I got Vermont VAST passes last year for the first time. I rode all over the state and loved it. Definitely going back this winter!

4195 08-15-2011 04:49 PM

I ride I have a place up in lyndonville VT (island Pond area). I have a 2012 800 Etec X on order. Any of you guys ride VT at all? I will post a couple of pics when I get to my computer. I know 10M will post a couple of pics of some big air. That kid is not right. He also owns the local Skidoo dealership in our area if anybody is looking. I need some of the local CPBA to get on the snowmobile thing, they have no idea what they are missing.

True...we need to get these guys on a sled once...they will be hooked! I remember last year Jeff was asking about turbos. They have you covered Jeff.

Last year I stayed at friends places when I was in VT. One of them has a cabin near you Frank, in Canaan. We did 435 miles in 2 days...that's the most I have ever ridden in a weekend. My ex boss has a place in Plymouth(middle of the state). Great area that is not too far away.

noyzee 08-15-2011 05:43 PM

lol, i cant believe how many boaters i talk to scared of the cold. i try to tell them but not all of them do it.
my buddy dan own ods (outdoor shop) i accually ride/race with him a lot in rangeley and that area.
nice collections to, if i had more room i would grab another sled but i only have room for 3 on my v nose and i cant fit a bigger one in my driveway.
ive gone back and forth about selling my 1000 and turning my 800 into a mod sled for race only and grabbing a new e-tek for trails. do a gade and do it up a bit . we shall see. the 800 has a brand new motor in it about 500 miles ago, so not sure what to do.
its fun as hell tho and keeps me busy all winter. brappp
anyone on hardcoresledder.com?
im noyzee over there as well

scarab63 08-15-2011 06:01 PM

Again, for anyone checking this thread... Polaris Iqr 440 factory snow X race sled for sale cheap. Never raced, used for off trail riding. Good shape. Trail converted so it can burn pump gas.

Do you use the shop vac mounted on the handle bars in reverse as a turbo charger ? :) :party-smiley-004:

Gladhe8er 08-16-2011 09:20 AM

That's a sweet sled. Is it an XRS with a custom graphic package?

Big Time 08-16-2011 09:49 AM

Looks like I might need an upgrade this winter to keep up with you guys....

It is an 800Etec X it was a wrap. The sled went back to Skidoo I had problems with it last year that they could not rectify so they ordered me 2012 to replace it. I absolutely loved the sled until the problems started. To say I am looking forward to this season is an understatement. We do a few poker runs and fun runs throughout the seaon so I will keep you guys in the loop!

noyzee 08-16-2011 10:12 AM

im on the fence on the xp still. i love my rev, ive ridden the xp a few times and like it but i love my rev. prob because im so used to it. i have my rev running faster then 99% of the xp's on the lake, and i have it pretty light for trails. i keep going back and forth. i was going to do it last year but instead did my rev all over. new motor, shocks, track, bearings, etc etc etc so its pretty much new. i spent all the money i was going to spend on a new one and made my rev new. lol

We need an official offseason CPBA party at "CHEZ PIDGEON" :drink::drink:

Gladhe8er 08-16-2011 10:41 AM

On the REV vs. XP thing...

I have a lot of miles on both. The REV is definitely built stronger, hence the heavier weight. If you hit a decent hole and bottom anything out, you will feel the shock travel up through your body on the XP. That never happens on the REV.

That's about it as far as advantages for the REV over the XP in my eyes. The light weight, handling, and most importantly the extra leg room are the reason my REV will be up for sale I the fall and replaced with something else(maybe a slightly used 800 X).

I hit that place for the first time this past year. The chicken parm for $14 was the biggest chicken parm meal I have ever seen! It was damn tasty too!

That's pretty good customer service! I've heard a couple other not so good stories about Ski Doo and their warranty.

it might be because im so used to the rev i had a hard time getting good on the xp. im sure over time.
i think im going to sell my 1000 and make my rev a race sled and get a new 800 etecg gade

Hey - maybe we hit the Cow Palace too. That place was good and there were even some hot chicks there. Before that, all I saw were woodchucks.

They do all my work and I bought the 2010 TNT from them. Their service, turn-around time and prices on gear are awesome. Never had the chance to ride with them though.

I'm Facebook friends with "Land N Sea Marine." Last week they posted this pic of 2 new Cat 800 Sno Pro's on their floor. Might go see how they fit me on Saturday:coolcowboy:

I guess some of you haven't gotten tired of doing a tune up by ordering two spark plugs, two pistons, two jusgs and a crank from Doo yet huh? :)

I have ridden Doo exclusively since 78 when I replaced my merc Twister with a Blizzard and I gotta say, getting sick and tired of low mileage motor failures.

Ever since the series 3's came into being, its been downhill for Doo 800's.
My 700 blew up twice in under 5000 miles, first 800 lasted 2300, then 4500, next 800 exploded at 3400 and again at 5500. Current 800 has gone boom 4 times.
I was going to but an E tech but after seeing 3 of four my buddies bought last year fail under 3000 miles, I threw in the towel and ordered a Poo. The season is too dam short to always be rebuilding or worse, waiting on parts to rebuild Doos.

1MOSES1 08-16-2011 11:44 AM

you guys have to stop with the winter talk. its wicked depressing. im about to report this thread to the mods haha.

Over the last 25 years my family has had about 10 Polaris', 4 Yamaha's, 3 Ski Doo's and 4 Arctic Cats. Never had a motor fail in any of them(I'm knocking on wood right now). We don't typically ride like A-holes either though.

The worst thing that happenned was the rings started to go on my wifes '04 600 SDI. $300 and good as new...

They all break, but I guess some more than otehrs. My friends that have E-techs have had no issues, but I know many others have. Huge Time's brother works at teh local Polaris dealership and he said those 800 Rush's broke all the time last year. That sled is on my short list even after hearing that.

I am a long time doo guy although I now have 2 Yammi's and a cat in the garage and I have to say I have had great luck with Doo until my last 2 sleds an 08 800 and the 2011. I am hoping to have my faith restored because I still feel they have the handiling down better then the other guys....although I think Poo and Cat may have caught up this year. Time will tell. I love how how they keep pushing the envelope and making the sleds better!
