Default Vacation Spot Lake Seneca vs Lake George

My wife and I are trying to decide on a good place to go on vacation this summer. We're planning on bringing the boat and would like to go where we won't get hassled for noise and speed. Any suggestions on places to stay?

Senaca lake has quiet a few places to go to. Some what boring though. No legs. Nothing too crazy. Never been to lake George but know the police are tough.

look into 1000 islands much better boating scenery length and places to go

I wonder if we could put together a master thread of places by state, definitely would be lengthy but might be useful. I feel like the OSO version of boating vacation varies from the rest of the wild and we are all always on the lookout for other places.

Tom , Lake George is gorgeous. Been there several times. However the noise ordinance will never allow your boat there. Never been to Seneca Lake so unable to assist. Good luck brother.

very different lakes. Seneca is a large, wide open lake with no fingers or coves. Extremely deep and cold. George has more little places to tuck in and is a very clean, but also cold lake. Seneca has all the wineries so it's a fun destination. George has a nice little town.

Seneca Lake south end has Watkins Glen. Where the NASCAR road race is. Town has quite a bit to do and some water front restaurants. Great Hotel at the south end if you are looking for accommodations. Deep lake, 38 Miles long, no chance of hitting anything or shallows. Poker Run on Lake 3rd week of JULY. Lots of Wineries. No Noise restrictions and the size of the lake makes it look non busy most days. Clean and no where near as cold as Lake George.

Just for the record,
The noise ordinance is NYS Nav law. Its enforced in LG, but it NYS law. That includes Seneca, Sacandaga, etc. The more people ignore it, the more its being enforced slowly but surely. 1000 Islands is enforced. Sacandaga is starting. Who's next?
Seneca does have a cool group of high perf boaters to play with.

LG does enforce noise and speed but if you have some kind of muffler and don't drive like an ass you'll likely not be hassled.
If I can help you out at all let me know!

Don't forget about all the waterfalls and gorges you can hike in the area. There are some beautiful sites to see most people don't know about
