If I remember, SBI years ago said that if you did not race alteast two races in their venue, you would not qualify for KW. Two years ago SBI took that away and stated that any race team that raced two races in any organization could participate in the Worlds.

We need to spice up what we all consider a sport...maybe the rules are fine, but there should be some progress in bringing races to Canada and other parts of the US. I know for a fact the Kingston, Ontario PRA poker run every year brings in at least 50,000 spectators...if I'm a sponsor that looks pretty damn good to me. I mean look at the support Americans throw behind football games with 40,000 in a stadium and tell me it can't be done in boat racing. On top of that someone needs to step up and get more coverage on TV...the only way the sport will grow is when people all over can watch it without attending. I'm in Ontario and we don't get anything...NOTHING..which is annoying as hell when I turn on my TV and all I see is Curling and Poker and Bowling shows. I mean gimme a break...I would be willing to gather a group of investors from Canada to bring a race to Canada with the Cooperation of OSS. But we need to come together and make sure were getting 50+ boats at every event...we need to spice up the location...don't get me wrong 5 stops in Florida is great... for Floridians. We need to realize that the only logical way to expand the sport is to expand our idea's. They say in Marketing "A good idea only lasts as long as you can sell it" Well I think were past that point for performance boat racing.

Moral of the story is...there's a lot of talk and no action...There has to be fortune 500 companies out there with an interest...making the prize pot more means more competition.

-more coverage brings more sponsors, brings more fans, brings bigger prize pots, more teams turn up...

Sorry for the rant
Show them with this last one boys...make it exciting!
Goodluck - I'll be watching via...old youtube highlights
I agree that we need to be able to watch Offshore Powerboat Racing on TV in Canada. I also agree that we need to have Offshore Powerboat Races in Canada to expose Canadians, who have no idea what Offshore Powerboat Racing is. I can also tell you, that one of the biggest problems to getting an Offshore Powerboat Race in Canada is getting sponsor. It is not as easy as you may think. Get the sponsors, get a great race site that the spectators can view the race up close, get an Offshore Racing Association that wants to break into this new market and you will have a good chance.

AB,
It has been a while, but I remember the Toronto race in '99 was a great site. It was at some park, plenty of parking and VIP viewing areas had mini bleachers. Very Cool, I remember it was bumpy water too. I was also at Missasuga. Less memorable but nice site.

Good luck

If any of you were in the military you might understand this. The OSS SVL teams run as a unit. NO ONE GETS LEFT BEHIND. We dont roll unless all are brothers roll together. I think it would be great if some of the bigger teams in OSS would sponsor a SVL team in KW. We cant tell people how to spend there money but it sure would be nice if us SVL teams could play with the rest of you. You may not believe this but it is just about the money in SVL and nothing else. I think a $5000 sponsor per team just might due it. Any takers? Talking trash has offered my team a shot to race.
