Have to agree with you with the crew members being left in the boat for the weigh in. When I raced in the OPC(Sport C, SST 45) division of APBA we were weighed at the end of each race. Thw weigh in included driver with all the gear he raced with(uniform,helmet,jacket,gloves,etc.) and residual fuel with the drain plug removed. I really think that the driver and throttleman should be included in the final weigh in. To be honest, I could never understand why it never was done that way in the Offshore Division.

If the race teams want it that way then we should tell APBA. They listen to our ideas and are there to help make the sport as fair as possable.

NHRA has done this for years, they weigh the winners on the way back to the pits. Of course it's very easy to run a car across the scales. Perhaps it's a safety/insurance issue, hoisting the boats with crew aboard. It's a good idea if it can be implemented.

Good Point about insurance coverage for the weigh in. I think a solution would be to lift the boat out of the water to the trailer with no crew members on board. Once the boat is on the trailer have the crew return to the cockpit to have it lifted off the trailer enough so that the boat is free from the trailer(a few feet), then taking the weight at that time. Have an inspector at each crane keeping an eye on racing crews during the time they are out of the boat.

Perhaps they could weigh the crew separately @ the dock after the race, like jockeys. Now that would be embarrassing for some of us! It would be hard to hide any significant added (later) weight on most bodies.
It would be more fair to include the crew in an "all up weight".
