I was at the last meeting for this. Shes needs alot of help.
On another website http://www.islandpirates.net/forum/s...ight=boat+week
She is bad mouthing me(Bajacleveland on other site), Saying im telling lies because Im giving my opinion on things. Such as:
the wrong weekend, Same weekend as a sailboat race out of the same river, Not enough boat docks, Thursday for fatest boat competition, Not allowing the race boats to do it.
Three pages (front and back) of volunteers needed. She talks about how this is going to bring millions into the city. Then the city needs to hire people.
Janie I would not of went to the meeting to be a volunteer if I didn't want to see this event happen.
Sounds like she's pissing off some people. Not a way to get things done.
I know someone that wanted to be a sponsor but she wanted so much free stuff he told her to forget it.

Louie, maybe it's time for you and me to take a little road trip. I was supposed to be up there last week. But sat tight until I new Augie was stable. This week, lets have Janie, Louie, myself, and the naysayers all in one place. Straighten a few things out and move forward together. smitty

I have already offered my time...and I have offered to work as a liason between the powerboaters and the blowboaters, as I have family members who are major players in the blowboat world out here, but was told thats under control. But if smitty and louie come out this way..I expect a phone call so we can share a barley pop if they are going to be in my back yard...

I'm in as I really wanta barley pop by Phragles house lol. I hope i didnt piss anybody off unneccesarily but i feel her pain. Ridiculously tough economy, clubs fighting for weekends to hold there events and zero help from the municipalities. It's really hard to accomplish and she's not going to survive on her own. The "millions" these events bring in is more of a sales pitch for sponsors, while they do generate a positive cash flow for an area you cant really predict how much it will bring in for a few years. So who's gonna help? again sorry if I insulted anyone,
Louie

Baha, I've been sitting back biting my tongue cause thats what I'm supposed to do. Now I have to speak up, every race site is full of guys like you, all you post is whats wrong with this and wrong with that and never seem to come up with a sollution. Well now that you've publicly pulled all your tremendous help away from Miss Vogle I think she may have a better shot at pulling this off. Instead of rallying behind her and giving support you've chosen to toss her under the bus at any chance you get. Maybe it is a tuff weekend maybe there are other events happening, I still applaud her effort in supporting Power Boat Racing, she has done far more then you have. Towns at race sites are all on tight budgets and if you have the tenacity to try and produce an event like this you are on your own, that is if they don't try and charge you for Police, F.D or parking and so on. Most of the time they tell you the weekend and you have to deal with that along with the current race schedule. It's monumental to say the least. I don't think I know you, I'm not looking to argue with you, just stating some facts. When I see a friend struggling to stand I try and keep them up I don't look to kick there legs out from under them, maybe some of the people in Ohio can do that for her? When the event goes my team will be there supporting Miss Vogel, OPA Racing and our sport. Good Luck Janie, as always call if I can help, Louie

So if you think its just me and my boat, Your wrong.
I have never said it can't be done. Its just going to be a challenge.
How many people from here went to the meeting to volunteer? I was there. I think that should say something, I want to see this happen as a regular event.
When she bad mouths me how am I supposed to respond. I have always learned you get more help by being nice to people.
Im not here for a pissing match.
Hopefully with us giving our opinons about it can only make it better.
What do I know. Im just a stupid boater that needs to keep his mouth shut.

INAUGURAL “LAKE ERIE BOAT WEEK” EVENT POSTPONED UNTIL 2010
Port Clinton, OH (July 1, 2009) – The inaugural “Lake Erie Boat Week” event, scheduled for September 1-6, 2009, in and around Port Clinton, Ohio, has officially been postponed until the summer of 2010.
“There were numerous factors that went into my decision to postpone ‘Lake Erie Boat Week’ this year,” stated Janie Vogel, Event Director for ‘Lake Erie Boat Week.’ “I worked tirelessly to try to pull off a one-of-a-kind tourist event for the community and region that would have brought approximately $5-$10 million to the local economy – in about six months. I was unbelievably close to completing the final stages of event preparation after only four months of work on the event in that location, but the condition of the economy right now played a part in why the event didn’t materialize for Port Clinton in 2009. Unfortunately, the difficult decision had to be made to postpone the inaugural ‘Lake Erie Boat Week’ until next year.”
Details are already being addressed to continue “Lake Erie Boat Week” in 2010. The www.LakeErieBoatWeek.com official event site will remain active throughout the coming year, with updates on progress for next year’s event – including dates and location - posted soon.
Vogel is extremely grateful for the support she received throughout these past months, stating, “I want to thank so many people who got behind my efforts in producing ‘Lake Erie Boat Week,’ and hope they will continue to support me in planning for the 2010 event.”
