If you did this we would have classes with lots of competition in them. Split the purse evenly amongst the boats that take the start and bigger trophies for the top 3 teams. The classes that you are merging normally don't have 5 boats in there class. I like more boats per class. We all cant win all the time. I'm in!!!!
MD

As long as you are at it. Merge SC and extreem at a max speed of 135MPH. 7 classes total. Less trophys to buy saves the producer money. Its a safer race as well.
MD

Now it's sounding better and better!! Great thoughts!! Outlaw in!!

No one boat is perfect for every water or condition, but that's racing.

In 6 foot seas at The Point Pleasant,NJ Race, 2002? , they "The Crazy Cubans" kicked my a$$ in that boat. Lots of heads up racing over the years with that boat and those guy's.Great Team! On Any Givin' Sunday!!!!!!!

For whatever reason they re-opened P3 in KW, but you guys proved that you could run it, now the consequences will rear its ugly head, you lifted your skirts, now you have to back peddle to get back in the class you belong in. I did it in the beak and its basically parked and useless as a race boat now(in my posession) for as long as I own it I will forced to move up and run in Class 4 with it and get hammered 8 out of 10 times. When someone buys it then hopefully the associations would permit it to run in the class that it belongs in (5).

I have a great deal of respect for all three teams and only wish you the best and hopefully you will realize to stay off the boards with your whines & complaints and be more diplomatic about it, I had to learn the hard way.......

Trent, instead of letting that fountain sit aound and go to waste....why dnt ya sell it to me:drink:

i think class 5 needs a fountain:evilb:

Augie is being to modest here.

We did race a 26 corsa but the best battles we had with Augie were in the bad boy 32 single engine. If my memory is right, back then there was only one calm race and it was in MD. Augie was very tough to beat make no mistake but we felt we rather compete then drop down a class like a lot of the boats today do. Smitty has a tough job placing these boats but IMO, there is no way that a 41 Apache should be running class 4. There was a 30 Superboat called "Dirty Cash" that ran in P3 in 2002-2003. Ryan Beckly ran in P2 with a 24 skater!! IMO, Boats should be placed in classes based on the best performance it can do not the best the "crew" can do.

The 41 Apache your refering to is a 85 mph boat, on it's best day, best water, fastest this crew ever saw was 87. It does not have a reputation of being a flat water race boat. No one team walked away with class 4 this year.:bsflag:

The 41 Apache can run in class 6 for all I care. All I am saying is that Bob Oliver's 41 used to run in class 2 I believe and took overall honors in many races even running against Cats capable of running 110 plus. I am speaking of offshore racing not racing in the bay. That 41 Apache should lap the class in rough. Its just my opinion and I am sure OPA and the class will figure it out.

What about the 38 footers & 36's in the class ? Hard pressed having a winning combination for rough & flat water as our record shows

F1-00 Racing 12-03-2010 09:28 AM

Guys,

Please lay off the Apache, they originally came in as a class 3 boat and based off of the boats performance consulted with Smitty and it was approved to move into Class 4. I am not by any means trying to throw Smitty under the bus, but part of the job he faces day in and day out is to make tough decisions. They were a new team(together) and need time to gel. Now I personally think the world of those guys and at the end of the day, Simmons still won. Last year, Class 4 was a 4 pony show, which includes Simmons, Chiro, Typhoon, and towards the end Formula. On any given day, any one of those teams can win, now you add Jersey Outlaw to the mix, it should be the foundation to some great battles. As much as Bruce hates me, I know he has the talent and the boat underneath him to be in that mix and my memory is real fuzzy, but didnt "Absolutely Not" win Ocean City? National Guard has what it takes and hopefully we can bring Kilt up north.

All everyone is doing by complaining about the Apache team is pissing them off to where they wont come back and we lost another race team, a good race team. Plus I am sure that no matter how much banter is said on these boards, Smitty has already talked to them and has a better handle on the situation than any of us keyboard artists....

Your logic makes no sense. If you had a problem with me or my apache in class 4, you should have said something earlier. Thanks for your support in my first year out
