TKO and Bull On The Beach are two FAST boats that should be racing class 2 (if it still existed) but it is what it is now. for 2011 I cant see any O/B cats wanting to race class 3 against these big block (big power) boats. I know I can run 94/93mph with my cat (or close to it), but these boats would absolutely destroy me off the start and out of the turns. |
I think you will get bashed if you run that boat in class 4 Bill. Why dont you just sell it to me?
|
Speed it up a little and run SV. You probably only need a couple MPH.
|
In Key West National Guard, Absolutely Not, and Time Bandit all ran in P3 and they all proved they were faster than us little Class 4 boats.... All of those boats run OPA at some point so with them Volunteering to move up and them showing they could run in a 95 mph class they should stay up there:party-smiley-004:
|
Class 3
TKO plans on running OPA next year, so I assume it will be class 3 unless they make changes and do a class 2 again (don't think so). Throw a couple of whipples on top of your 525's, that should make that thing fly. Then we will be scratching our heads trying to catch you.
You have a beautiful boat and you guys are fun to be around, so I hope you get it figured out and come out to play. Charlie, TKO |

For whatever reason they re-opened P3 in KW, but you guys proved that you could run it, now the consequences will rear its ugly head, you lifted your skirts, now you have to back peddle to get back in the class you belong in. I did it in the beak and its basically parked and useless as a race boat now(in my posession) for as long as I own it I will forced to move up and run in Class 4 with it and get hammered 8 out of 10 times. When someone buys it then hopefully the associations would permit it to run in the class that it belongs in (5). I have a great deal of respect for all three teams and only wish you the best and hopefully you will realize to stay off the boards with your whines & complaints and be more diplomatic about it, I had to learn the hard way....... |

Why Not? If Class 2 boats run in class 3 why cant we run in Class 4?
secondly, even if it was allowed, it would kill the class. open boats cannot compete with canopied boats of the equal size and power. Thats like a SVL running class 5. Aint gonna happen. If we bring back class 2, there should be no problem. |

First off, it will not be allowed to run 4. Ask OPA why. Its not fair to legit class 4 boats. Chiro 1 should bump up to 3 as well.

Talk with Smitty about bringing back class 2. |
Glad you guys brought this up. Think about this. As much as I hate change, if it for the better, lets look at it.
SV seems to be dying. Unless two or three more come out, There is no reason to support that class. Back to class 2 So....if class 2 comes back that moves Bull and TKO there, with the SV's. Class 3 then becomes a 90 mph twin class. class 4 then becomes an 85 mph single V class. The only problem is that some of the class 5 boats my want to move up to 4 and hurt the boat count in class 5. Just a thought. lets have some in put. Smitty |

Plus no class 4 boats with twins but you will still have a couple class 5 boats with twins ?? not really a big deal but ...... Plus what about Purfect Cat (sp?) he was a single class #4 "cat" that fit into the 85mph speed shall we say "perfect" would be get bumped? Not bashing just posting questions that I'm sure will come up.. but what ever is done expect PFE to show up in at least 1 boat :evilb: |

Then you could merge class 6 with 5. Just my opinion, or Maybe not.
Class 5 = 73mph (Single) ** Class 4 = 80 mph (Single) ** Class 3 = 90 mph ** Class 2 = 105mph Class 1 = 115mph ** Proposed new class/speeds |

Im not really sure what the bull can run, but maybe they belong in 2 as well. That leaves you guys. Will you run all alone in 3? If Chiro one bumped up, would it be unfair for you too? Its pretty embarassing that you guys would even consider running in a 85 MPH class, knowing you can easily do 100 - 105. You guys are a legal class 3 or even 2 boat. Stay where you belong and take care of your own house. Dont come ruin ours, it already has issues.

Why would Class 4 be changed to single engine boats?
Why change any of the classes? It seems to be working, just seems a little broken due to the fact that a class is missing and making a few races/racers at a disadvantage |

Why change class 5? It works extremely well. I understand changes to 3, and I think brining back 2 is great. That being said, 5 kicks ass, and to my knowledge everybody in 5 is happy with 5. Dont change the class that brings out the most boats.
* But my reasoning behind it was to narrow the gap between the smaller / slower class 6 boats and the larger faster 5 boats. |

Ok Bruce how fast does your boat run? Yeah i dont how fast the boat runs i have only been in it at 94.5. I think Bill said it went faster? But i have never driven it past that. I am working on some sponsors now and looks like i might have a good one. Are you going to race all the races next year?
Its too soon to determine how many races I will attend next year. I guess it all depends on business and sponsorship opportunities. |

I dont have the right to speak about what happens out side of class five, but, my two cents are this. Have two class 4s, one for twins with a 39 foot cap. The other for singles. Both 4s would be 80 mph. Bring 2 back as 100, because Bull may be a cat, but its a 32 foot boat...105 is haulin. 3 come back as 90. Itd take a lot to make that apache run 95, and it be haulin. 5,6 and 1 are great. But then again....some rough water would even all this out...
|
We would move to C3 as apposed to running against cats with 750s or Vs with 950s.
With the 1:50 gears we could run right at the number |
Get your a@@ back out and we can keep SV

I agree with you on that leave 5 and 6 alone.
The classes are fine other than bringing back class 2 and reclassifying some boats. Rich 611 |

Rick, Class5, a little self serving huh?:drink:
Speaking for our class(twins)that is proposed, Simmons is talking retirement(also says boat is not capable of 90), Dont really know what the status of Chiro is so lets say they are coming back(also says boat is not capable of 90), Jersey Outlaw will do a race here and there, ok Formula is in as well. So now you go from 3-8 boats in every race down to 1-2(on a good day 3) in a "new class". yawn, been there done that, over it.... My thoughts are to bring back class 2 and leave the rest alone, then have class meetings in St Clair about possible changes for 2012 which then each class rep can bring them to Smitty and he and the board can go from there. Not have ongoing discussions on any offshore forum. As far as the twin vs. single battle, I have been on both sides and knock on wood was able to to "build a boat for the class" and now everyone wants to cry about it. It always goes back to us as racers are our own worst enemy. Safety is my only concern about moving up to 90. I mean hell Dev and i proved that if you get cut off, she'll buck ya in a heartbeat attempting to make an evasive move @ 81.4 mph. Johnny, I respect what you are saying and you have some very valid points, however, you have to remember that when your boat had a 500EFI it ran 80-82 mph all day long and back in the day competed against "The Flying Condo" and sometimes even beat him. I dont know the exact specs on your current motor, but it certainly looks like it has a lot more ponies than 520-525HP. So in theory, it should easily be capable of mid to high 80's. I also realize that back in the day I was getting gas for .77 a gallon so obviously 2011 is a lot different than 2001-4. Smitty my thoughts are above, I do request that if changes are to be made they be made yesterday so us florida guys can get out and test test test all winter and be prepared for next season. |

Trent, only talking here. Class 3 is weak. Once was a strong class. Just looking to see if we are missing something.
Bill P. I have a set of Whipples. Yikes..............Too scared to put them in the Beak boat. Or leave it alone. Jr. has decided it is time to go Topless. We will be out to put a championship on the Viper. Once dominated class 3. Out for a little Bull and Walter. |

Everyone keeps saying we need "less" classes, so ok
Class #1 speeds up to 115mph That is all.. :lolhit: |

Dont know what Im smokin either, but I like it! I thought it ran low 100s, being it ran SV. I thought most of the SVs were running anywhere from 105 - 112. |
i would love to know who ran 112

Well this has certainly spread quickly to more than Class 3!! All good though!!
Being lucky to have run in Class 6 (Locked Up), I say no changes there!! It's an introductory class for people to get into this sport with little money--compared to the higher classes!! Above all, Class 6 needs to stay consistent, safe and budget in mind. It could be the most important class we have!! Class 5 rocks and should be left alone!! Class 4...We built the Jersey Outlaw to fit this class. Our motors are perfect and we knew our drives were weak, which became our downfall for 2010! We have the winter to strengthen them, so lookout Trent!! Now as far as any changes to 4, we can race our boat at 90, but that will put all our boats under extra stress and break sooner so do we want that? 85 is a good speed, and from what I saw, boats stayed together, other than known weaknesses. Boat type is a big question!! Twins, singles, size...it all matters and don't let any chicks(or dudes) tell ya different!!!! Hahaha Personally, I love the Chiro crew, but I think their boat is too big for 4. They have the clear advantage in rough water, but there are no specific rules to keep them, or anyone else out, so they are in. Unless the Class 4 guys want to get together and discuss rule changes/additions/subtractions, then we move on to 2011 season!! Us Garvey guys have way bigger balls than the Chiro and Formula crews too!!!! ****, I hope we get our boat reliable enough to finish!!! Screw the checkered flag, we are in it for the chicks!!! Class 3, is a great class but I think Class 2 should come back so the boats get into the class they are competitive with, and not in a lower class where they dominate! Class 1, not to be left out, but left alone!! All good!! Keep the comments rolling!! We will have 2011 rules squared away before we know it!! :drink: |
