I think having a 70 and 75mph class is kind of the same thing.
I disagree, class 6 is the perfect entry level class, and there both working. And if they were combined, thatd be from 15-22 boatsin class 5. Im all for competition but at what point does it become a little extreme? If it aint broke dont fix it, class 5 and 6 are fantastic. Is anyone in either class not thrilled with there experience this year? And i dont mean personal differences off the course, I mean with the way the class was run.

Both classes work, its just two of the same thing (or very, very close)

I see what you mean, but to me class 6 is a lot easier for guys who have pleasure boats to get hooked with. For example, Akula or the Scarab. Even the guys with 21 SOBs occasionally run. Its not that they couldnt in class 5, it just seems class 6 its easier to take your boat and race it in.

What exactly is the point of messing with the two most popular classes in OPA? (5 and 6)

This contradicts your previous post regarding the 32 Skaters. If a boat runs above the class speed by 5 mph in PREFECT CONDITIONS it should be moved up. A 32 Skater with 750s runs above 105 as does a 38 Vee with 950s or a 29 with 800hp runs over 75mph.

If they build an over kill boat, move them up or it just kills the class.

No one boat is perfect for every water or condition, but that's racing.

if you dont have to change a thing to run class 5 then that means your just sandbagging in class 6

I disagree. I agree with Randy, bracket racing is about building a boat that will run 4 or 5 mph over over the class. That way your not running the boat real loose or just beating on it to run...most of the boats in class 5 are built like this. Most of the ones with big power are also chipped down to 75. The great equlaizer is 1. The ocean, and, 2. Breaking out.

My comment about the skater is more about safety than anything else. A classic 32 skater has to be run extremely hard to keep up with a 36 Skater, 37 talon etc. When we ran Stylin in Class 1 ( a full race 36 spectre) relentless (32 skater) was competitive until the real rough days, where it had to be run on the ragged edge. It was not with the 40 motion that ran.
