My personal opinion for the proposed S/O class was a weight limit and HP limit, and or a "stock aluminum pitch prop" limit.. basically keeping the speeds under 70mph or around.. but make it a spec class, not GPS, no speed limit.. but as I work trade shows over the winter and this makes it impossible to attend the OPA awards banquet I cant really offer my opinion..
I believe they are shooting for 60 mph |

Example.: apache, super, sutphen, progression all merc optimax 225 with 21pitch props. Would that be fair competitive non GPS racing? I'd think so. Is there a specific small hull that has distinct advantages? I can't think of one. In a " offshore style " hull. Not talking hydros, or actions etc MD |
A progression will lap a Sutphen...in any water.

Making a class 7 rather than a SOB class is taking a step backwards. As rick mentioned, make it a spec class and let the racers go at it! Makes the class far more attractive to racers and fans alike in my opinion. Hell make it a saturday fill in race with a short course and give the fans some entertainment and allow racers to race SOB saturday and another class sunday.
