37 Quad Step #6's In Or Out
#41
A hull with that power to size/weight ratio that runs that aired out must have props that are balanced/blueprinted. Not sure if any of you have tried that at all. A stock mercury 'lab' cleaver (before the CNC props) will not be properly balanced. Unbalanced props will cause the boat to go into a chine walk if it starts porpoising at a high rate speed because the footprint on the boat is smaller at 110+ and unbalanced props may cause the boat to pull to one side, then it will toss to the other side=violent chine/death walk.

I would think with the quad step combined with the ventilation holes blowing air under the hull that a 5 blade would have more bite, seems like the boat has to much transom lift and is loosing bit and hunting up stairs, If I had a solid bit with the water and or clean water to continue to propel the boat foward this problem would not exsist, Or at least would not be as bad, I could be totally off! Media Master, a cut down 37' single step with 6's and big power doesn't porpoise or chine walk.
MTM, also a single step runs over 100 mph and no chine walk or porpoise. (bravos) I've been on it a dozen times... pulls real hard.
There was also another 37' with 1200's on #5's...forgot the name, it's in Long Island... no porpoise or chine walk... single step.

That's interesting, I heard the opposite... And also thought the reason they stopped making the quad step 37's was due to handling issues/roll overs/spins??

My understanding is that they quit making the quad step for the same reasons. Which would also stand to reason why it rode flatter. Flatter, meaning less skeg in the water, especially in turns. It was a great ride though, in fact I tried to buy one after the poker run.

I have also ridden in other 37 single steps that rode very well. I think Lets Rock just had a very high x-dimension. Because it was very fast for 900's, just not the most stable boat I have ridden it.
