After thinking for a bit of time, that is one of the things that helps boats sell. Buying from a member is kind of reassuring.
Many of us CARE about our stuff, which equates to TAKING CARE of our stuff.

Either way, this buyer is getting a hell of a boat.
Hope we get to watch what happens.

Dude, I didn't know you had a 29 Fountain! :D

I'm just kidding, you're the only one on this thread that can run 90 with less than 700 hp!

Well guys, I traded the 21 Cig to Scott towards the 28 Pantera without power, and I am very excited to join the Pantera group :ernaehrung004: ..... my first Pantera after three Cig's including a Top Gun and Donzi's, Formula's, Wellcrafts ....

What a nice boat and solid, I really like the lines and the all white is very different and cool.

I plan to make a few changes begining with a recreational hatch, I would like to trade a rec hatch for this killer F1 style super lightweight scooped hatch. Anyone interested out there?? this race hatch is in perfect shape ... really like new, rec hatch would have to be super clean as well. Pics attached .....

tomcei 09-19-2007 05:28 AM

Not sure about a trade. If you want to sell out right, I might be interested. Call me 404 427 4486 Tom

TexomaPowerboater 09-19-2007 08:35 AM

Congrats..........

What other plans do you have for her?

Dude! Sweet! 09-19-2007 08:35 AM

Dang Tom! You beat me to it!

Mike Congratulations on buying a great boat! If it doesn't work out with Tom, I'm interested in the hatch. I'll pm with my info.

Later,

Sean

Mike, nice purchase! Congrats on a boat that has been admired and talked about for months by Pantera owners. I couldn't get my sh*t together to pull the trigger and bring her home to MY driveway. Enjoy it!

Hugh

Stormrider 09-19-2007 09:48 AM

Wow mike, nice buy!
Did you even try to sell the 21? I remember talkin about an asking price. that was a real nice cig too!
Whats in store for power for the 28?

p729lws 09-19-2007 10:22 AM

Nice Pantera Mike:drool: It was on my short list.

Dan

socalstone 09-19-2007 10:33 AM

That is a great boat. She's light and very responsive to trim and tab inputs.
Good call taking her without power.
What motor are you planning to install?

mikeb4 09-19-2007 03:36 PM

Thanks Everyone, I'm probably going to bum everyone out :sorry: but I'm only putting a 500 HP 502 in it because I really was not interested in the boats capability with a 700+ HP package.

Slowing down nowadays and with a single I had very little interest of breaking down in Lake Huron so I'm going with super reliable power, and as luck would have it still expect pretty respectable performance from this boat for a single 28 with 500 horses :cheer:

Plan to rig it this winter and see what happens in April! :D

Dude! Sweet! 09-19-2007 04:35 PM

Mike great talking to you! You're going to LOVE that boat!

TeamShogren.com 09-19-2007 11:17 PM

Thank you

Mike,

Thank you for the business. Hopefully Bill will have your new motor dynoed soon.

Regards,

Scott Shogren

Congradulations Mike, I tried to buy the boat a couple of months ago, but didn't have enough to put down on it at the time. Keep us posted how she runs with the 500 in it. Its a sweet boat... That boat needed a good (rough water) home, glad to see it has one now. Seemed like for the last 3 years that boat was every dealers red-headed step child.

mikeb4 09-20-2007 02:14 PM

Thanks everyone, and thanks to Scott for making it a great experience trading in the Cig for a new boat without power. Scott represented the boat honestly and unlike almost every other boat I have looked at in my life, this one was exactly as I expected (which were high expectations).

Seems like there were several factors that all came together at the right time so I could make this happen and get the boat before it went elsewhere. Thanks for everyones help and comments, I'll be asking a lot of questions over the next 6 month's I'm sure!

bouyhunter 09-20-2007 05:34 PM

Congrats on the new boat!!

robpcfs 09-20-2007 07:07 PM

Congratulations on joining the family.... I am also, a recent addition to the Pantera family and, I LOVE IT!!

EXACTLY! :ernaehrung004: thanks, there is no way we could let this thread die right? what is the OSO record number of pages on one thread anyway ???

Dude! Sweet! 09-21-2007 09:55 PM

I think you're going to need to get hoodwinked into buying a fake Rolex along the way if we're going to have a shot at the record! :D

TexomaPowerboater 09-22-2007 10:56 AM

Congrats....... thats a sweet boat. I wish I new they were selling less power. :(

Well, had a big weekend already, I picked up my new motor at AETCO yesterday and brought it home from Chicago today. Awesome dyno results of 531 HP @ 5300 and 568 ft lbs of torque at 4700. Great results for a 502 without anything super hot in it other than HP500 stuff and a 850 Holley.

Here are some pics of it before covering and wrapping for the trip home. I plan to finish dressing it and get it in by mid December then I can putz with the details until spring! :food-smiley-007:

nice.
Everything looks very clean

Extra stringers too! Nice! I got the hatch mounted today. I'm going to run it tomorrow. I'll try to post some photos on Monday.

Dude! Sweet! 11-17-2007 09:14 PM

And I can't wait to here how that hot rod runs for you! :D

mikeb4 11-17-2007 09:51 PM

Thanks Guys ... yeah I only wish it wasn't going to be so long before I see the numbers ....... I have a 25 Hydromotive and a 26 Bravo I, both 4 blades to start out testing with. Jo thinks maybe 75 MPH with my race layup, 70 should be for sure ...... I would be estatic with that speed from a single 530 HP in a full sized 28.

Yeah, being a newbie here I wasn't aware of how stupid a comment that was! :angry-smiley-044:

I'll follow through on the boats completion regardless if everyone's still interested ... thanks!

Thanks Tom, you did your engine mount plate in white to show the engine off better right?? are you happy with it or is it really hard to keep clean looking? I have to refinish mine and I liked the idea of making the engine jump out visually.

Your installation is awesome clean and detailed ... I have a pic of your engine mounted as a reference for my project .....

Thanks, Mike

tomcei 11-18-2007 09:05 AM

Thanks Mike,
The white is very easy to clean.. Yes, it shows more, but glossy powder coat and Imron paint wipes quick with a towel. I always jump in the bilge after every outing, spray a little simple green, and wipe everything down. There is usually blow by oil on and around valve covers and it can drip off the cover on to the mount or bilge. Very easy to see an stay on top of. The black paint was old and would not be as easy to clean.
I would do it again.
I will most likely powder coat my inner transom plate and every black bracket I can find when I pull the mtr.

bouyhunter 11-18-2007 10:13 AM

Lookin good Mike!!
Keep up with the pics. I love these project/resto threads.
I'm at about the same stage with mine, but I'm slowing down with the winter, and of course budget.
Keep up the nice work.

Elite Marine 11-18-2007 11:57 AM

Looks real nice. Was that a freshen up of a 502 or did Bill sell you a complete drop in?

Kirk, It was a rebuilt 502 I traded a custom Harley for with Scott at Shogren. Since Bill had rebuilt the engine for Scott, it was a perfect situation to have him set it up for me. I was very happy to see the dyno numbers come in above 500 HP.

I build custom bikes, usually one per winter just for fun and had a Harley Bobber that was tough to sell in Detroit with the economy imploded. It worked out perfectly with Scott, once again the Shogren team was super to work with on what could have been a very complex transaction. Highly recommended! ;)

Man that looks awesome! Looks like it was there all along ...... that is a LOT more air getting to that engine!

I'm glad you posted some clean pics of it, I really wondered how it was going to look ... great to see! Congrats !
