Talk Soon Danny :drink: I'll take you for a ride at the Dust Off. I sent you an email this morning. Norm |
Beautiful engine and install.
Be light on the stick!!! The Xr will thank you with longevity. |
Jason and the guys at Performance Marine finish up on the install this week, launch it and sea trial it to make sure that everything is perfect.
Then it gets turned over to me this weekend. :drink: LET THE FUN BEGIN!!! I CAN'T WAIT. :ernaehrung004: |
Ah! "Green Eyes" the assimilation into the Family is complete! : D
Enjoy it Norman. You'll be very pleased with the ride.
Kirk,
I just have to tell you that I can't wait. It seems like a long time ago that you delivered the boat when there was still snow on the ground. It's been a long but exciting journey. I'll be in touch after we hit the water. I hope that you're healing well. Norm |

Any updates guys?? Laying here with this broken leg, looking to see this boat on the water again!!! Nothing much to do but keep checking here!
I'm looking forward to seeing how she runs with that power .... should be a fun ride! :ernaehrung004:
Anything guys?
Well, we've got a small delay. The headers are being custom made and unfortunately were not made by the manufacturer according to the specs as designed. Soooooo, they were FedEx'ed back on Friday and we're hoping the correct ones arrive this week. First snag in the entire build so I can't really complain. Plus, if they were built according to specs, all would have been fine.
Waiting one more week won't kill me I guess. |
As the song goes..Waiting is the hardest part :drink:
If thats the only hiccup to date that great!
I think there are alot of guys waiting to hear how you like the boat/engine package. |
Both are good hahaah :grinser010:
Any word on the headers? I'm sure Norman is anxious too!
If you had filled those exaust holes in with the rest of the transom itd be running :p :drink:
They were standard bravo layout.
Did you raise the X or go with a tall deck? I should have had them filled probably...oops!! Sorry guys! Kirk |
hahah im just poking fun at ya Kirk
What exhaust did you go with Lightning I assume?
To be honest, other then CMI i dont know. My dad would
Should be running late today early tomorrow
Johnny, We need pic's. Doug
Yes PICS!!!
And a full report!!! |
Tomorrow is the big day. I take final delivery of the boat. The right parts finally arrived from CMI and everything fit. The guys at Performance Marine took it for it's first test ride last night complete with laptop for final EFI tuning. The technology those guys have used is simply amazing. No detail is overlooked. First run with a stock 4 blade 26 prop was 78 MPH in glasslike water conditions. Jason thinks there's a few more MPH after we test a few more props to reduce slippage. I'll post some pictures and hopefully a video tomorrow night.
I'll tell you, I'll never let any one else touch my boat but Performance Marine in Bolton Landing, NY. People ship motors to them from all over the entire US just for them to work on. It's a small shop with brilliant people who treat every customer like they're the owner. If anyone is thinking of doing any motor work from a tune up to building a new motor, I'd give them a call 518-644-3080 and ask for Jason or Rick. More to come tomorrow. |
78? In a little chop you'll be over 80. Thats AWESOME!!!
Sounds like they did a great job Norman. Keep us posted. |
Congratulations! 78 in flat water with 650 HP is VERY respectable! Good luck with the prop testing. Can't wait to see photos!
Thats great Norm ! Let me know if I can help you with anything else.
Some chop and a labbed prop should put you over 80 MPH which is great with 650 HP. Rgards, JO |
Kirk, you had that boat running what speeds w/ what power?
seems like your slippage is pretty good with that number.
I think I was 76 - 77 with the 648 HP I had origianlly. I have to find the sheet with the bigger HP. Thye must have a real 650+ and dialed in. I wonder if they raised the X a little?
78 with a 26' bravo 1.5 to 1 drive, first try, Not bad at all. What was the rpm? Very nice Norm. Doug
79 today with some chop and a different prop. Feels like its slipping...quite a bit..I think a half inch spacer is in its future
Congrates Norm and Performance Marine, those are great numbers right out of the box.
Norm, have a great summer with your new toy, get her dialed in, at those speeds Danny will be nipping at your heals. LOL!!! Morgan |
What about a 5 blade instead of a spacer? Just curious.
Too much load on the drive with a single with a 5 blade.
I think a labbed 28 would be the ticket. |
I ran a 5 blade on mine, but was overpropped. I really liked it other than I couldn't pull the rpm on the top. Albert and B-Stubb have run 5 bladers too. Seems like when you have real high slip numbers, the extra blade won't hook up bad enough to really hammer the drive, but then again, I'm not a professional boat expert...

Here's some pics of my first day out in the 28. What can I say but MAGNIFICENT!!! The boat ran absolutely beautifully. Three different people came up to me at the dock and said, "what kind of boat is that? I love it." I felt like a proud new father. The boat handles great, easily gets on a plane and has kick a$$ acceleration. That's going to take some getting used to. What a ride! I just couldn't be happier about the whole deal. Thank to Jo for making it, Kirk for selling it to me and Jason Saris and Rick Gage at Performance Marine for building me and incredible power package.
More to come. |
