Default 24' outboard

Well it doesn't look like my boat is going to sell so I have made the decision to go fwd with the outboard conversion. I know it may not be the most economical decision but I think in the long run it will be what I want.
The plan is to fill in the transom, build up stringer braces, and install a stainless marine bracket. I really want to paint the sides black with a red stripe along the bottom similar to the new 24 banana that was at the show. I'm just going to have to see if I can swing the paint this year or next. I have decided to go with a single 300xs and seastar pro hyd steering.
I am trying to order my outboard bracket but i am offshore and I want to confirm the dimensions. Can anyone confirm that a 78" wide bracket will fit? I know it is 7' beam but I need to know if it is at least ~79" wide 25-27" up from the bottom of the V.

We delivered this 24' Sport approximately 6 years ago that was powered by a single HPDI Yamaha 250. Thought it would give you an idea.

You really couldn't get a new motor for less? It seems like a lot of work and expense when there's a simpler solution...

thanks for the pics

I was surprised I did not get more interest.....I thought about waiting it out but I hate to see the boat just sitting there. I am hopefully going to get the transom work and bracket installed within the next two weeks.

no doubt that there is a simpler solution but for some reason I want an outboard......

can anyone confirm the 78" wide platform will work?

I'll measure my transom when I walk the dog later, but I dont have a bracket yet, so all i can give ya is a width near where the mounting on mine is.

Think the boat sold complete. But a single OB on a 24x7 with only 250-300 is not that fast. I think in the 50 mph range. These days with the new 450 hp mercs i would say it would be a fast single OB.

I owned a copy cat pantera 24 with twin 200 obs. It did slightly better than 70. Fun boat in midrange.

I recall Pepe at pantera liking the 24 with obs mounted on the transom, But the boat changed handling if putting twins on a big setback bracket.
