Yup. dont really understand it..

OCCJoe 10-08-2012 06:13 PM

Use to be industry standard substrate ! It's yesteryears equivalent to scored Divincell board . It allows saturation of resin throughout the surface and you could use it on rounded surfaces . Not scraps !

Greatlaker 10-15-2012 09:08 PM

Great Looking Project. That's going to make a Great Classic

krisx125 10-15-2012 09:19 PM

I got two coats of Awl grip epoxy primer on the sides and three on the bottom. The person who bottom painted it, went too heavy on the grit before painting. I sanded and sanded trying to get all the marks out of the bottom. Didnt cover as well as i would like. But im sure i can hide them with a few coats of paint. I mean, it is only the bottom. If you guys see me doing anything wrong just tell me. Im 24 and havent done this much prep work and painting before haha. Thanks for all the nice comments! More sanding tomorrow. Pics will follow!

JAIME 10-15-2012 09:29 PM

was wondering if u guys reinforce the older boats where the top deck and hull bond together when doing these full restorations. Everything has a life span and the material breaks down, what do you guys think? sorry for going a little off topic

JAIME 10-15-2012 09:32 PM

by the way nice to see u making progress. thanks for the pics

krisx125 10-15-2012 09:59 PM

This boat appears to be very solid in that area. Plus its screwed all the way around.

Keytime 10-16-2012 12:00 AM

Always inspiring to see anyone doing this much work on a restoration. Keep on posting. :drink:

vintage chromoly 10-16-2012 07:37 PM

I was going to do it all white. But got talked out of it. Decided to do Snow white top deck, Navy hull sides, And snow white bottom. Except the "Navy" is a shade lighter than what i wanted. Oh well.

krisx125 10-16-2012 07:56 PM

Started sanding the primer today...with 320, i have a longgg road ahead!

AnurajShah 11-10-2012 10:33 PM

Nice meeting you today and seeing the boat in person. The project is coming along nicely.

krisx125 11-11-2012 04:52 PM

Are you going to use one of those Kaama drives on this after all? I'll be interested to see how it handles if so.

krisx125 11-14-2012 06:27 PM

i have them both..but im going to run a bravo for now. See how and if i like the boat. Then rebuild the kaama and do a transom and run it.

dba900 11-15-2012 06:29 AM

Well, if ever you change your mind give me a shout. I wouldn't mind putting a set of Kaamas on our 30' Sutphen. Good luck with the re-build! We're in about the same place with our 24' Superboat.

Flyin-Bryan 11-15-2012 06:49 AM

Kris,I just bought a 24' skater,I can play with too.probably be running the backside if the island with this one.http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8061/8...15ac2a69_z.jpg

Looks great, I love the blue.....

bouyhunter 11-25-2012 03:19 PM

So, where the helll are you mounting the crockpot and blender that have been sitting on the deck through this project??
I guess the crockpot could serve as cooking facility for ins. purposes/2nd home;)

The boat is looking good! keep it up.

Craney 11-25-2012 04:48 PM

Looks great I like the blue also, will the deck be blue to?

krisx125 11-25-2012 06:57 PM

haha, thanks for the compliments guys! The top deck is going white, and im debating doing a blue stripe down the center. And as for the blender and crock pot. Im still trying to decide where to mount them lol.

Ive got these tips what do you all think? They too much? I know im gettin way inhead of myself, but i want to mount the transom assy and exhaust tips and trim tabs now. They are slanted but you cant really notice in this pic.

AnurajShah 11-27-2012 05:48 PM

Kris, looks great. I need to catch up with you guys and see how mine is coming. I was out of town for a week.
