Shoud we go ahead and postpone it now, or do we want to wait? We will have to check the radar before we leave Naples anyway, could be a very long ride if the conditions are what they are predicting.

Hope things change- 6-8's are a bit much... we've had great weather for the last month.
If it's too bad to go out, we could rally at Dennis' house! Post a map.
Seriously, whatever works best for everyone is fine with me. I spoke with the Green Flash earlier to confirm our arrival, and he is concerned about the weather as well... also, he mentioned that we should try to raft up a bit so we don't overload their dock. (I figure this is just good group behavior anyway.)
If we can't go, we can't go. The great thing about here is, there is always the next day or next week.

With concern for Saturday's weather and after conversation with Jayboat and Expresscat we have decided that Saturday,s fun run should be postponed.
I am proposing that we just move it along to the next day Sunday the 5th. Everything else will remain the same. The route itself is fairly short [ about 50 miles ] and we can be be finished up by 3:30 or 4:00 in plenty of time to take in the Super Bowl game.
The front will have moved thru and the forecast is for lots of sun, north winds of 15MPH with gusts to 20. Temp will be a bit on the cool side at 68deg. Dennis will post a more up to date accurate forecast a little later.
Is there support for a Sunday run? I will be on the phone with those I have spoken to outside of OSO and after feedback from here and them I will make a post later confirming whether the run is either canceled or postponed to Sunday.
thank you,
Bob

I won't be able to make Sunday. I sold my boat this week and made arrangments to use it Saturday for this run. The new owner, who is also from Cape Coral will be picking it up Sunday morning. I will have to wait till next month, hopefully I will have my new one by then.....

They didn't really seem bothered by the number of 15 boats, but I've never been there. In my exhuberance the other day I may have said something like "but there could be twice that number..."
I think it made him a little nervous. Anyway, they are aware that we won't be coming on saturday, and I agreed to call them back if we decide to pull the plug on sunday also.

There are multiple piers that will hold many pontoons and small runabout vessels. Pull in with a few 40's and all of a sudden there is nothing left.
I went through my pics and forgot about the south finger docks. The skinny narrow beam boats could get in there with no issues. It would take some coordination but we should be fine.
Cats could not raft unless it is on the north side of the north dock.

In the above pic the Cig is tied to the last post and is actually extending out a few feet. There is ample room in front for another boat. Considering you could fit 4 boats on the dock and raft 4 more it should be a piece of cake. There are 2 or 3 more piers and the finger docks on the south pier (behind the Skater).
