"Jordan Point is not like Hampton area marinas that have a number of transients come in...they get virtually none. Therefore their goal is to rent every slip they have to long term renters. For the Poker Run they make available every slip (and open bulkheads) they possibly can that weekend. Unfortunately they don't know how many will be open or how many regulars will leave their slips for that weekend until we get close to the date. There are several other marinas in the area and I have wondered if it would be worthwhile to try and get a group together at one of those marinas too."
I feel they do what they can considering the circumstances. If everyone visited them a couple times a year then they would be prepared for a large group of transients.

NOMOGOFAST... LMAO! That's funny. You're gonna have to find an open fisherman website to be a post whore on!
And there is NO WAY I'm going anywhere near that slip of his... bad carma! I figure with one motor he can always go in big circles and throw out beads!

Russ, completely understand and totally sympathize...I really do, and I support JP. I know they've had a ruff couple of years...however thinking business like, your James run isn't 30 boats anymore. You have what could be 100 boats+ and Friday night accommodations is a must for an event like this. I just think your group might want to have a plan "B" in the event JP can't support all of us. If I find out Monday that I need to get a hotel room or another slip Thursday & Friday...what's the chances I'll find one & who's going to be paying for it? Too many people in this situation could damage the great reputation that the James Run has earned. Correct me if I'm wrong? Sorry, just thinking business like... I sometimes do that. Nothing wrong with a back up plan when you have so much to protect.

still piecing their way together...I'm looking for a couple KPM seawater pump housings & impellers that are on backorder every where we look. Other than that...Dyno time should be early next week. Began rigging the boat too. Trying to figure out which Drive rich screwed up so I can replace the clutch. Everybody seems to know it had a problem but nobody knows which drive, so I'll probably end up paying to tear down both of them...you don't know do you?
Were moving some lines & hoses around to make better sense as well as plumbing in the external pick-ups. Still shooting for early to mid may, but I'm not holding my breath.

We have gone over and over trying to make other arrangements, the bad thing is the upper James River has limited marinas and very little transent slips. All the marina's do fill up with yearly contracts. Jordan Point will do the best they can too fit as many boats as possible. I have suggested that if you can tell her that you do not mind rafting up this could bring in more boats. As far as a back up plan???? We have exhausted all ideas. Hopefully people will see what kind of event we put on Saturday and will be happy. Our group does not make a penny on this event, all profits are donated to the Shriners Hospital. This event has grown over the past years that none of us would have expected, so lets make the best of it and enjoy a great day of boating and friends.
