This is my business, I live on this Lake , boat on this lake , and care about this lake. It's about people keeping there word. So far the only thing that is confirmed ,is what you have said. So until Bill Taylor addresses this, I don't believe it will happen. These boats are some of the fastest and best looking boats around. This lake is just to small for these type of boats to run. YOU KNOW THAT!

It's not about what YOU give to us.But since you asked what we give. Call the Cornelius fire dept,Lake Norman Marine Commission,Cancer Society.See I don't have the money like you just a club that cares about boating without the ME attitude!!!!!

I can barely decifer this but it doesn't sound like your "separation by speed" plan takes into consideration the thousands of boaters that will be on Lake Norman in September. Only sounds like it would be safe on an empty lake. I'd love to see the big boats run fast, but LKN isn't really good for that -unless you set up your event during the week in late fall or winter.

Kenny,

I'm not trying to argue with you or bust your nuts....I'm mearly trying to get you to see the other side of the situation...

I understand what your saying and I agree that different people have different tastes in boating. The point I'm trying to make is that right now you have a combination of boat types on Norman. When you bring in a large scale run and bring a large influx of performance boats you offset the combination or "balance" of boats currently on Norman.

When you draw that sort of "mainstream" attention to "your taste" then you upset those who boat for other purposes or have different tastes. What you dont realize is that those "other tastes" collectively out number "performance boats". So in a worst case scenario it comes down to "other tastes" vs. "performance boats".....the "other taste" is the majority and your way out numbered....

You have now upset the locals who are your "would be" support or backbone to help you stand up. I'm sure there is a real reason why this size and type event has not been held there on Norman for the 15 years you have been there....

Keep in mind of what your doing, keep in mind the consequences that your inviting into your community, keep in mind how your rubbing fellow boaters on Norman, and at least do the right thing and make things right with fellow "performance boaters" on your lake before you move forward.

In the end this isnt about you and vagrant, it's about the future of "performance boating" on Norman.....

P.S. You might be the safest boater in the world, but you cant control what or how everyone else operates their boat at the event......All it takes is a few throttle happy folks to upset the wrong people....

That's whats its about in the end. Thanks for clearing my head. Someone once told me it's ok to agree to disagree. After all its still boating!!!!!! That's the common factor!!!

Every Lake Or Location Has Similar Issues, Suported By Some Hated By Some. Smith Mountion Lake Is Small But A Very Nice Run, Lake Lanier In Ga Is Very Small Was A Nice Run , Lake Norman Is Bigger And It Will Be A Great Run , The Number Of Boat Will Be Limited Due To The Size, And It Will Be Done Right.

well to strart with Norman is smaller then Lanier, and way to small for a large group of go fast at over 100mph. So before you bust my azz i have been boating on this lake for 25 plus years and i LOVE the big go fast boats ,but long after they are gone home we will have to deal with what has happened at the lake.It took a lot of work to get the marine commission to give us the thumbs up for our run and they watch us very close.Mr Dean have you talked to them i really don't think you have. So you may get your run one time but my guess is not twice.Like i said after they are gone who is going to loose out? i know pokerruns america is a class act and to prove it they should bow out of this like they said they would in there e-mail

I hate to get into the mix of this, but I had dinner with Bill and Marilyn at the Miami boat show and discussed a run on Lake Norman. I told them that being a PRA participant, I really enjoyed doing their runs, but thought that the type and quantity of the PRA boats were to much for Lake Norman based on part Poker/Fun Runs and gave them my opinion and they agreed that maybe they should look at a PRA event in the Charleston or Myrtle Beach area, which I told them I would attend. Nothing wrong with poker/fun runs on Lake Norman if it is done right, which is the way PRA does theirs, but they will not get the support from the Marine Commission to do what they would like to do. To Big and Fast Boats will hurt the efforts I believe. I have talked to several guys with large and fast cats who would love to do the run but are not looking forward to a pace boat led run at low speeds. Trust me, if they are allowed to cut them loose, it would be the last sanctioned run on lake norman. The marine commission can put forth legislation to the NC legislature to stop any type of run on the lake. This is why several performance people like myself have attended the meetings to voice our opinions and help all of us enjoy unrestricted use of the lake. No mufflers, no speed limits, etc. which have come up in their meetings. I have been the LKN marine commission meetings and they are very strict about safety on the lake. I would like to keep it that way. If done with support from the LKN Marine Commission and their blessing, then good luck on the event

I have also lived on Lake Norman for about 10 years and agree with steet. I would love to see the big boats run just as much as anyone but it is not worth putting an end to performance boats on this lake for the rest of us. I believe it was about 4 years or 5 years ago Baja and Westport marine put on a Poker Run. After that I sat in a number of Marine Commission meetings listening to complaints about the noise, speed, and destruction to property and docks(The typical stuff that we get blamed for). Luckly for our sake, the marine commission is not against us and did not take any drastic action. I'm pretty sure that if it becomes a big public stink again that the marine commision will be forced to take action by the people with influence.

Through the work of the CPBA with the Marine Commission, law enforcement, and the fire departs, last years was the first year that a publicized event was pulled off with success with almost no negative public feedback.

All I can say is that if PRA wants to do it they better go through the correct channels and figure on using a legit pace boat which I'm sure none of you guys would want.

You Guys Really Don't Understand, If I Do Somethimg It Is Only Done Right. I Have Done Well Over 100 Runs Ever Where And If I'm Involved It Will Be Done Right And Safely Or I Want Do It. I Was Asked To Bring My Outerlimit To The Baja Run I Didnt Feel It Would Be Safe So I Watched From My Dock! And On A Side Note Lake Lanier In Ga Is Much Smaller Than Lake Norman I Did All The 7 Stops In Less Than45 Minutes , Still Had Fun And It Is A Pretty Lake And I'd Goto Anoter Run There. I Have Live And Boated On The Lake Forover 15 And 26 Year Respectfully.
