Caesar Creek Shootout

Checking to see if there is any interest in getting an end of season event going at at Caesar Creek Lake located southeast of Dayton and northeast of Cincinnati. Please call all of your boating friends and pass the word. Would like to make it one of the first three weekends of October. We had about thirty boats last year and had a great time! Lenn (KN)

define get together?

Katt Nipp 09-13-2011 01:34 PM

Fast boats taking turns going as fast as they can side by side. All others either doing the same or watching.

MiniBoatsDotNet 09-13-2011 08:09 PM

I wanted to attend last year but had a funeral. Will come this year if it happens, but i sold my "fast boat" and only have a bowrider now

ITLLFLI 09-13-2011 08:25 PM

I will be there if its the 8th! Cant make it the 1st and my daughter is going to be born the 15th!! My brother may bring his 25 powerplay and dad with his 21 Hawaiian....

TDSTYG 09-13-2011 09:07 PM

i will be in and at least 4 other boats in my crew will attend for sure

32 sunsation dominator
24 baja
21 eliminator scorpion tunnel with outbord
25 baja outlaw

this event could be bigger than last year, need to get the word out to the boaters around central and northern ohio that run the alum creek shootout. they are dropping the lake early this year on the 15th of sept for ramp work so i dont think there will be a shootout there.

MiniBoatsDotNet 09-14-2011 07:03 AM

so what is the date going to be?

Katt Nipp 09-14-2011 09:05 AM

How does the 8th of October sound to everyone?

MiniBoatsDotNet 09-14-2011 11:23 AM

Good for me.

What happened to the bad apples racing site? Gone? There was a lot of local performance boat people on there...

Baja 2008 09-14-2011 04:24 PM

Good date Lenn we'll get the word out. The new checkmate is in Cumberland but i have a few buddies to ride with.

greencard 09-14-2011 05:24 PM

I will try to make it before noon, some were heading in when we got there. see ya all the 8th.

Baja 2008 09-14-2011 07:39 PM

Yes we need to get their early, some of the boats were leaving when i got their.

booboo 09-14-2011 08:07 PM

we will be there with 3 in boat. i will bring the cam corder again. will the radar gun be there again this year? really enjoyed last years meet. cant wait!!! are you going to do the lunch thing at noon again?

bob_t 09-16-2011 08:23 PM

We picked up a "new to us" boat a couple of weeks ago, so we will try to make it too - we really enjoyed meeting everyone last year .... Haven't had a chance to get the new boat to WOT yet due to 1) fear of being ejected from the boat or 2) the boat breaking apart, due to the adverse conditions at Brookville, which is the only place we have taken it so far! Still trying to sort it (the boat) out. It seems to be real sensitive to trim, and I keep blowing the prop out . I didn't notice when we were looking at the boat, but there's ~ 1.5" of hook built into the hull so I'm sure that is why it planes almost instantly, though. Also, not sure what gas the previous owner had in it, but it would diesel when shutting it down after a "hard pull" during the couple of times we ran it. On a brighter note, my kids absolutely love the new boat. :party-smiley-004:

Baja 2008 09-18-2011 07:52 AM

Bob, what,s the new boat?

ImaPoser 09-18-2011 05:23 PM

I should have the 'toon back at home by then. I should be there with the floating viewing stands.

A huge step (backwards) from all of our Fountains, or anything "performance" related .... a 2008 Tahoe Q5i SF, complete with 55 lb thrust wireless foot operated MotorGuide trolling motor, 8 gallon areated livewell, and 50 gallon cooler. :picard1:

Brookville had no boats on it Saturday afternoon/evening, so after a couple of "hard pulls" (both kids behind the boat on tubes) burning off most of the fuel and letting the ambient air temperature cool down, we decided to try to squeeze all the mph we could get out of the boat ... nearly flat water, 2 people (left the kids on shore), ~ 63 degrees temp, low on fuel (but it only holds 23 gallons when its full :grinser010:), windshield closed, bimini top down and secured, cooler and livewell empty, trolling motor in the truck ..... and about 4 miles of clean, wide open lake.

So, are you ready for this? :evilb: :evilb:

50 mph on the Alpha 1's pitot tube speedo (no gps). Should note that this amazing hull blistering, eye watering, "both hands on the (rack and pinion/cable) steering wheel" speed was accomplished with a non-labbed 3 blade aluminum prop (with no paint missing), against the rev limiter of that impressive 4.3L carbureted, thru the prop exhaust, 190 hp V6.

PS: Factory test sheet (ie, their online brochure) says 49 - 51 mph, but we all know that individual results may vary. :D

Last year everyone gathered around main ramp area in the morning. Go in the main park entrance off of Hwy 73. That entrance ends a the main ramp. Bring your 3.0L ... that way I'll have something to "race" against with our Tahoe! :picard1: Last year we brought our Fountain. Katt Nipp's Checkmate was impressive and we all had fun! Will be interesting to see what he brings this year.

Sure glad it was not today ... too cold. Looking forward to another good time! I enjoyed meeting everyone last year.

WETTE VETTE 10-01-2011 09:32 PM

Any hotels near the lake?

bob_t 10-01-2011 11:52 PM

The lake is about 12 miles east of I-75 (Exit 38 is Hwy 73). La Comedia Dinner Theatre is on the same exit and is a popular tourist spot. There are several hotels/motels along I-75 in that area.

fbc25el 10-02-2011 10:23 AM

I think its I-71 instead of I 75.

HDMF 10-02-2011 10:44 AM

I usually go to alum, but we are going to try caesar creek this year, We will have three boats. How long is lake? is there fast boats there? What time do people show up? It is for sure Sat. the 8th?

No, that post is correct - the lake is east of I-75. Its a couple of miles west of I-71 (exit 45 on I-71). You can get there either way. Its in between the two interstates.

Yes, eastern time.
I count on being there and launching around 8 since I'll be solo and will tie up a ramp for a bit. I have a new prop to test as well and will try to get my testing done with the current and new one early so if anyone wants to ride out and watch and take pictures or whatever when you real boats are out there, I have room for a dozen or so.
Yes, it's a stinkin pontoon. :party-smiley-004:
Here's hoping the new prop gets me to 45. :evilb:

Baja 2008 10-04-2011 07:41 PM

Poser, can't wait to meet you. I have seen a lot of your pics over the years. We have a place near Echo pt in Cumberland and have seen a lot of your pics on their site also.
