Desert Storm first timer???

I am from Wi and have always wanted to run Desert Storm. I am going to be coming 2000 miles . Can any one tell me where is a good place to stay?? I know its a little late but any suggestions would be appreciated. Also because so ,many boats i assume they run different classes. Is this by size or speed? Any help or hints do's or don'ts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe

The poker run has classes rated by speed. We are staying at the Islander Inn but I have heard that they are booked. You will enjoy the run. Kind of a kick off for the boating season. Just call around, the prices are all over the place.

The Nuatical Inn is the host of the event and usually keeps rooms reserved for those who have entered the poker run. That being said, it is late enough that they may be booked up as well. We like to stay at the London Bridge Resort as they have nice dock setup that is more convenient than beaching your boat in the cove at Nautical. I'm sure they are completely booked as well. Just get a room anywhere, and launch your boat at the public ramp, or see if there is space at the marina (it's pretty big). As a last resort put a thread up in the general section, saying "Help need a room for Desert Storm" and you should get some assistance.
Have fun, it is a blast!!

Joe. A week before the event some rooms always open up. I have stayed at the Hampton Inn which is okay. Basic but clean. How big is your boat? Do you want to trailer it every day or hope to find a dock? I booked this year at the Islander Inn and will be pulling my boat every day, fueling on the street at night and launching early each day. Good luck in your quest. Doug

Make sure you go up the river to Pirates cove. It is absolutely beautiful. Watch the natives so you don't get into shallow water. Have fun, it's a great time. The desert mountains are stunning.

I'd love to find a place with a doc. But I know that May not be a choice I have. I have a 30 ft boat. I found a condo about 25 miles down river that includes a slip. I hope there are no stumps or sand bars on the river I don't have a clue. Never ran there before. Thanks for the reply.
