87 mph is correct! This was 1/4 tanks of fuel and in about 48 degree air. The boat runs a very consistant 85 mph in hot weather, and with decent quantities of fuel. I'm spinning 32 Bravo 4 blades which seem to be just about perfect. I know the boat originally had 5 blades on it which I'm sure help pop the boat out of the water with the Shorties, but I don't exactly think they somehow added 5 or 6 mph to the top speed

Make sure the headers are not leaking!!!

OK guys this is what I'm doing:

Bore 0.030" over
Replace ECU
work the heads, oversize inconel exhaust valves and SS intake valves
Hydraulic roller cam
New crane hardware on the head, rockers, springs etc
Aeromotive fuel pump and pressure regulator

Should equal 500hp

X 2 = much pain to my wallet . I'll keep you all posted as we rebuild.

Baja, We need pics of that 38PP, Does it have a bow rail? I have seen pics of what I think is every 38, except there is a pic on the website of one with a bow rail and I have never figured out which one has it, and this #VI boat is the only one I can figure it is on since I have never seen a full boat shot. baja27,I was leaving on thursday with a friend in his 42 Fountain, but it has leaking fuel tanks at 100hrs and Fountain probably wont have it fixed like they said they would. Imagine that. Guys, here are some pictures from the damage to the engine. Note the molten metal on the piston. We can save the head by shaving it, it will also help the compression a little. The blocks have already been cleaned up and bored.

I'll post more as the rebuilding begins. The Team at Derebery has been awesome to deal with.
