yeah it did race with 4's but not the ones on it now. also, ask steve about my layup. it is prolly the lightest and toughest 33 PP ever built. 540's and 4's are about the most reliable set-up to run 90+mph that you can get on a 33.

berns29scarab 10-15-2010 08:57 AM

hey steve im sure when the B-1 race boat was built as a staggered boat, it was CG'd accordingly. now that its been transformed to a side by side number 4 boat, how would the balance and handling be affected ? and also could enuff weigh have been moved around to compensate for the new configuration or is there to much weight in her transom with the big blocks, trannies and 4 all side by side...thoughts ?

302Sport 10-15-2010 09:06 AM

the rear two saddle tanks have been pulled, and some cabin weight has been added from finishing it to correct the cg problem. now she holds 160 or so gallons between the two rear saddle tanks and the bow tank.

nice...please dont take this as bashing by any means. the boat is a nice piece just a difficult one for both buyer and seller

302Sport 10-15-2010 09:37 AM

no problem :drink:

Steve 1 10-15-2010 01:50 PM

That boat was the Powerplay Factory raceboat as with all powerplays nothing was spared on the construction and it was a source of pride for the whole company,"B" class in those days was some real racing.

So,

Not sure if anyone has asked, but how is Danny doing? He had his problems, but went away quietly, hope he is doing well.

i have owned my 1992 pp 25 sportdeck for 3 years now, i am running a 502 w/871 blower est. 750 hp w/bravo 1 drive. i am looking to get it to run faster, now i am at about 81 gps. solid boat, great drivability, and handling. is this boat capable of faster speeds? i havn't seen much about the i/o 25 pp's. on this thread? any opinions would help me thanks brandon

It has a pad bottom that the boat runs on at high speed which in this case is a plus ,there should be a few more MPH left in it.

desel 10-17-2010 03:36 PM

Nice thread Steve, keep it going.:)

Get ahold of Patrick (Performace Marine ???? I think) He raced a 25PP Sportdeck and can tell you the hot setup. Once he got his boat figured out he was really hard to beat. He was one of (very) few "A" Class boats that could compete with Buzzi & The Bat Boat when they where allowed to run "A" Class.

Steve1 can probably help some too :)

This totally depends on what you are trying to achive. Spinning your props inboard will make an azz heavy boat run a tad faster, But you really feel the props jerking the rear of the boat around. The higher the X-Dim the more you feel it. A deep X-dim may not feel it at all. also (depending on your Xdim) spinning in will not carry the nose well since it lifts the azz more.

ludo73 11-02-2010 09:13 PM

What do you call Xdimension ?

I swapped mine to inward rotation this year. It definitely lightens up the back end. Also had the props (Bravo's) labbed, added an inch of pitch and had cupping added to the tips for more bow lift. It made a big difference. Felt like a different boat. It took a little while to get used to it. I'm happy I made the change.

FYI. Handling around the docks is worse. You basically have to drive it like a single.

Actually the X dimension is the height of the crankshaft centerline to the bottom of the boat. X dimension will greatly effect the center of gravity. Propshaft centerline on the otherhand is the distance of the center of the propshaft to the bottom of the boat. It can be changed without changing the X dimension. The use of different drives, raised or lowered extension boxes, shorty drives, and drive spacers can very the propshaft centerline to the bottom.

It handles rough water just fine. Just keep the motors tucked in. If the waves are large you have to back down your speed as the props will break loose.

I can assure you it is no rougher out there then it is running the Jersey coast.

ludo73 11-03-2010 09:12 AM

hmmm about 2-6ft everyday

With your Outboards it is the relation of your props to the running surface. The higher the prop the less gearcase you drag through the water, also allows you run a little bigger prop since the whole blade area isn't loaded all at once. If you put a straight edge along the bottom and let it stick out as far as your gearcase you can see where your prop hight is in relation to the running surface. then some of the experts here can suggest what you should do.

ludo73 11-07-2010 08:41 AM

where can i buy nose cone ?
i run torquemaster and can't raise the engines as high as i want

SVL-WARLOCK 11-07-2010 10:12 AM

Bobs macine in Fl. The best.

NJThumper 11-07-2010 03:38 PM

You don't want to cone a Torquemaster. Replace them with Sportmasters.

ludo73 11-07-2010 06:51 PM

hmmmm sportmaster aren't cheap.... my boat can run with these torquemaster, so i will still run them
