Awesome, good to know. I'm still down 500-600 rpm both engines. I'm thinking (hoping) its a fuel delivery issue.

I don't believe valve springs go bad over the winter. First year of owning the boat it would bang 5200 rpm very time the sticks got mashed, put it away for the winter sleep and first ride out down 500 rpm. Changed all fuel filters as well.

Last year I would run sea foam injector cleaner through it and it did slowly but gradually get better.
This year down on rpm big time. I have not done a compression or leak down on it. I will pull plugs and do the basics but its time to find my problem so that I dont hurt the motors, and also so that i can go and run with a certain PP!

To build power you need good air, fuel, spark & compression. Checked your flame arresters, doubt they'd be an issue. Confirm fuel pressure. Ever put in a set of plugs. If all is good time to move to compression / mechanical concerns. Did the rpm loss happen after you had the props worked? Change to the pitch may be topping out the engines, only so much hp & torque.
Hope all turns out well and its nothing too serious...

Finally, headed to the lake tomorrow. Can't wait to run the Whipples!

Hey J, no not a ZR, although my buddy has a nice one with 600/SCXs and it's nice. I need something with a nicer cabin, I have a 3 year old daughter.

Need, my issues were right out of the box in the spring with no changes to anything. Both engines were down from the first ride out so that's why I'm skeptical it could be valve spring related.

Hey Tommy!!!!
When you changed out the cams in the 496 to HO's, what was the cost involved? Did you get the computers reflashed or did you get new ones?
How many hours of work from start to finish??
Thanks,
Mike

Oh oh...having a lift loss problem? Is that the concern you're having or are you just upgrading? Hope all turns out well.
