concidering he asked how a Baja performes VS a PQ.....Its pretty self explanitary. It was side by side real world comparison....once again proving my point about the baja owners demeaner. as Jplanes says. ASS HAT! LOL.

There are pros and cons to be said about EVERY manufacturer. I was very happy with the quality of my previous boat, A 1996 Crownline 266LTD, however, with just over a month of owning my 380 Avenger I can tell you that the PowerQuest is a much better built boat. The arrow straight fiberglass, fit and finish, hardware quality, rigging, etc. is very evident after working on a few items. The biggest complaint I have heard about these boats is the wiring, which, I find to be again superior to Crownline.

My dad has an immaculate 1993 Baja 290OS. I perform all the mechanicals on this boat and I find it to be a well built boat as well, however, not in the same category as PowerQuest. As far as speed, his 29 Baja is equipped with Twin 502MAG (carbs) and my 38 PowerQuest is equipped with twin 502 MAG MPI's. He always has a nice view of my transom. I think it says a lot that the 38' runs as well if not a tad faster than an equally powered 29'er.

Although the Baja has been a good boat to him, it has had it's fair share of electrical issues and some of the cabin trim falling apart. Boat only has 380hrs and run on the Missouri River, not a big rough lake.

I said I was going to stay away from this thread but... I wouldn't call outrunning a stock baja (yes I'm making an suumption there) with a procharged powerquest a "side by side real world comparison". Not knocking your boat at all but I'd be shocked if you couldn't outrun him, especially in smooth water. Just to stir the pot a little, I've walked away from a 280 Powerquest with a stock 502 mag. Nothing to brag about though, stock twin engine boat vs stock single engine boat, what else would you expect.

By the way, did you ever get to finish prop testing on your boat? Any luck getting your slip % down? Sounds like you have a nice rig.

Something weird here. The 290OS had a shallow 21 degree deadrise and were pretty fast. Rode like **** but should run mid to upper 70's with 502's. I'm guessing a 38 Powerquest runs upper 60's on gps with 502 efi's? Sounds like he has some mechanical, prop, or hull issues.

No still dont have it lined out. Runnin mid to low 70s. Still in the low 20%s of prop slip. The bblades guys will get me lined out thoe. Im confident in them.

Im gonna dis agree a lil bit about the fair race. Depending on what power he had hes still 800hp if not more. Im 650 give or take. What does the 29ol weight. My 280 is 4800. I couldnt be more than 1500 lighter than the OL. Id say if anything the step hull gave me the edge. And the ohio river isnt smooth by any means. Its gets dangerous at times. It was 2 foot chop that day. Not bad. It was worse yesterday. 3 Footers. Makes it fun thoe.

With the 25p Mirage props, he has run a best of 74mph. He is currently running 25p Hydromotive 4-Blades. Not the best for top speed, but works well for lower speed cruising. Mom does not like him running WOT anyway!

My 38 Avenger runs 68-69 loaded with fuel and the wifes crap on board. Will top 70 with light fuel. GPS

Id love to have a 380. maybe one day when the house is payed off. lol. im pretty sure it would be hard to find an inland body of water that would get choppy enough to effect the ride of that monster true deep V.

Dry Weight of 29 OL is ~7000 Lbs so fuel, gear and passengers it will be much more. I've noticed the dry weight of these boats is very light...at least on mine.
