Battery switches on my 280 silencer

Can someone tell me proper procedure regarding the battery switches. My boat sits at the dock sometimes 10 days at a time without being used Should I shut the battery switches off when the boat is not in use or it doesnt matter

If your boat has a Mercruiser drive with their "Mercathode" corrosion suppression sysem, do not shut off the bateries while te boat is in the water. If it has the Mercathode system, it does not have the zinc sacrificial anodes that older boats have. Your manual will indicate this information.

I keep mine turned off most of the time when not in use. I have a 2001 280 Silencer and when I first got the boat the battery switch was mounted in the engine compartment. This meant that you could not turn the switch off because then you could not close the hatch. I had the switch moved to a different location, just so I could cut it on and off as needed......
