If it is super clean and you plan on keeping it for a while maybe it will be worth the money. You could find another one not as clean for 28k and then after a few years have more than 30 into it. God isn't making anymore Powerquests so you might be better off buying the cleanest one you can find...

I would wait a week or 2 and call him and offer to split the difference. Make sure all your financing (if needed) is in order and tell him you are ready to go. Offer a strong deposit contingent on survey.

Cheaper isn't always better. I was wondering why I got such a great deal on my 290, then 2 years later ended up finding out why. $9K later I was back on the water. Hindsight though. Good luck

i honestly dont think i could find a cleaner boat and in top condition.someone made a good point in another post mentioned about powerquest being out of business and down the road very expensive to get parts.

Dude,,,the only thing PQ build is the hull,,,the rest such as Gages, steering,,windshield ,,cabin door,,vinyl,,stainless hardware,,stereo,,hatches,,etc,,YEP ALL still available,,PQ builds the HULL and bought everything else from outside sources,(they did have a upholstery shop but any upholstery shop could repair something down the road0,no different then any other boat manufacture,,,,(with the acception of fountain,,ALL build in house,,:lolhit:kidding)
I know my avatar shows I own a Fountain but I have owned 7 PQs over the last 15 years (one was a 280 with a 500hp) and had been at the factory 35-40 while they were building the ones I ordered new,,and PQ build a solid boat second to NONE..

as far as the 496 not been in production,,,only one reason GM stopped building the big block 8.1l which is what the 496 is,,they are bullet proof engines,,had 2 PQ 300s with twin 496 set ups and the ran strong,,and I know a liitle about engines because I have been a GM Master tech for the last 28 years so I think I know a little of what I am talking about,,well maybe not:lolhit:

as far as the BS on the other thread you started on the general discussion,,,,that is all it is BS!!!!

thank you so much for clearing this up for me.wish the guy would move on the price,im sure its worth it but im not sure if it is over priced and in the future would have trouble with resale.

Well said.

I needed a new transom shower for the Vyper, ITC in Holland..exact same.

I needed a cockpit light, ITC in Holland..exact same.

I added a foot rest for passenger, boat from Toms friend..but available on eBay and also built in Michigan, the company name escapes me.

The point is that they build the hull and buy the rest and assemble.

The 496s are good reliable engines.

As said PQ only made the hull. Any other part is sourced from a vendor and can be found.
