I sold my 02 Silencer last spring for $33,000 with a new trailer. I bought it new and it was racked stored. It was in perfect condition,no scratches, interior like new. It had a 496 HO. with a little over 600 hours. It still ran as good as the day I bought it.

Not trying to sound condescending but it is a boat. It is not an investment. You are taking a gamble on resale no matter what you spend. Good boats are worth the money. 5k difference in price could be the difference between having a great time the next few years making great memories with family and friends or becoming bitter and losing interest along with money. Just ask the guy sipping a beer at the marina or the guy with the boat sitting behind the garage with a weathered blue tarp over it...
It also helped that the boat was only 2 hours from home which was also a factor in the price for me as it wouldn't cost anything to go get it or have it shipped. |

I know my avatar shows I own a Fountain but I have owned 7 PQs over the last 15 years (one was a 280 with a 500hp) and had been at the factory 35-40 while they were building the ones I ordered new,,and PQ build a solid boat second to NONE.. as far as the 496 not been in production,,,only one reason GM stopped building the big block 8.1l which is what the 496 is,,they are bullet proof engines,,had 2 PQ 300s with twin 496 set ups and the ran strong,,and I know a liitle about engines because I have been a GM Master tech for the last 28 years so I think I know a little of what I am talking about,,well maybe not:lolhit: as far as the BS on the other thread you started on the general discussion,,,,that is all it is BS!!!! |

So it sounds like 34k is still a good price?
I sold my '03 260 PQ 2 years ago ($33,000) to a first time performance boat buyer and I think he had the same reserves that you may be having about Powerquest and the market. He put it up for sale later on that year, so I called him and asked if he was having problems with the boat or maybe buyer's remorse. He said he was just seeing if there was a market demand for it. I even offered to buy it back as it was getting harder to find a clean, low hour, well maintained PQ. I did find another one though last year, an '04 260 for $34,000. I feel I got a good deal since it's the boat that I wanted. Again, good luck and maybe look at a few more boats for comparison to make yourself feel better about what you may be buying. |
i am pretty sure its prob the best i could get for my money.just wqnted to make sure i couldnt get more boat for the money.plus after a few years i may want to upgrade and not want to be upside down on the loan.

Take another example. I wanted a one ton dually to pull my Vyper. Had to be a Lariat, had to be 4x4, had to have shift on the fly, heated seats, center console, less than 50K on it, and an 06 or 07. The last requirment was all white....well couldnt find an all white so settled on a two tone white with beige lower. The point here is that sometimes when you want specific things sacrifices need to be made. If 4K is the only thing wrong, for me it is an easy decision, wait 2 weeks and call the guy and offer 1500ish less and let him chew on it. 2 weeks after that call him and pay asking price. Good luck and happy boating!! |
Just to clear things up,I'm not just looking at powerquest.also formula and donzi.
