Mattt,
Just from personal experience, I bought a Powerquest (used) out of state. They don't sell them by me. I have my work done by a local Mercrusier mechanic. He treats me like any other customer. He sells boats, but does most of his buisiness on service.

That's right! The factory (or merc if its motor) pays for the warranty work.....no matter who does it or where. Then when the warranty expires, you pay!!

I agree with boomer, How long do plan too own the boat because warranty work is some of the best money for any shop!!

also I ordered my boat loaded and with specific colors and still got 30% off sticker, I've also had another shop do some work with no problems.

good luck

PQ must be a lot cheaper at any other state but Michigan. Becuase, the dealer around here sure want a lot of money for their boat. I think I have to go out of state to order my boat then. Wish me luck for my next negociate.. I think I am too nice when it come to buying big toys.

Later,

Mattt.

Mattt,

Just to throw a bit more fuel on the fire....

I was cruising Boat Trader Online today, looking at PQ prices, and what did I find? A nice 2001 290 Enticer, twin big blocks, for about what Skipper Bud's quoted you for a 237!

http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/8/9/1746189.htm

Pretty interesting that you can get an extra big block and drive, plus 6 more feet of boat, just by not paying for "service"... There's plenty more out there as well.

Your experience is going to keep me away from Skipper Bud's when it's time for my next boat....

dockrocker,

I saw that 29' PQ. I think It said that the previous owner did not winterized it right. The block cracked. They rebuild the engine and has a warranty on it.

May be the quoted for my boat was high is because it a 2003 ?

Thanks, for the reply.

Mattt.

Matt,

You could get a new 24ft Pantera, custom built just for you for about the same money!!!
It's already September, so you won't get to use the boat this season much anyway...

If you are still looking for a 237 I still have mine for sale. Drop me an email at [email protected] if you want more information on the boat. The boat is a nice size for rivers, large lakes, and the ocean. I have had mine out in Daytona and over in Sarasota for the races. Performs great. I dont have the 496 engine though. That is something I wish I did have... It is the 7.4 engine. I do have the competition package and upgraded graphics.
