Default 16' Donzi O/B Prop

I just purchased a Donzi sweet 16 with a 175 O/B. The prop that came on the boat is a alum 3 blade 14,1/2 x 19. The boat runs about 52@5500RPM.

Even thought the prop is beat, it snaps the boat out of the water and provides good lift.

I need to replace this chunked up alum prop, any suggestions?

Would the new Enertia prop from Merc be a good fit?

What do you use the boat for? This will have a bearing on what prop would be best for your application. Since you mentioned that it gets on plane well do you use it to tow skiers or inflatables?

It's really just a toy, second boat. I would be towing once or twice a year, most of the time cruising. I am looking for a little more speed.

A 3 blade stainless steel propeller will be the best choice for all around performance including the speed you are looking for. We would suggest trying the Laser 2. We would be looking to run a 19 pitch or go to the 21 and have it Lab Finished.

Brett,

Prop worked out great. 54.3 on gps at 55/5600 RPM with two people and 3/4 tank of gas. Snaps right out of the water and carries the bow real well.

Somthing is wrong when I calc the slip??

Thanks.

Yeah, too good to be true. The old standard gear ratio would be 2.0:1. Is that yours? Tachs are notoriously inacurate. We may have a problem there. Make sure it is correct.
