I will be about 400-425 hp with my upgrades im doing this winter...I am running 23p mirage not the plus I run WFO with these and only turn 4200rpm at about 58-61 mph on a good day with some chop. I ran the boat at Loto in October this year and ran 4600rpm and the speedo was buried at 65 i have GPS'ed at it reads the same as my stock speedo..I also have a set of cleavers I run somtimes they are 23p also..These turn about 4600 and only see 62-63 mph...What do you think??

ironman, no problem on the disagreement. I forget things once in awhile too! You shouldn't have a inch of room left after a 16.5" prop on a TRS though. We did have 1.5, 2, and 3 inch spacer kits for those drives. Maybe you had one in. They blended in nicely. Otherwise I'm forgeting how long that strut really is!

myscarab, trying the propellers will answer the questions you have. If they are indeed 24's, the added hp will help pull them. They definately thick and heavy. This means the performance and the rpm among other things can be improved.

Yep I forget some stuff too that was a 16 diam that fit with about 1/2" of clearance on a standard length drive. The Mercruiser brochure had the TRS listed as taking a 16" maximum diameter prop.

I agree that you should try the props myscarab but beware that the overhub props will slip alot while getting on plane, you may have to rev them up some and feather the throttles back easy to get on plane.

When I first got this Scarab i had problems with the props blowing out on the Mirage's. I had them cupped a little and now it seems to do alot better out of the hole..When I run the 23p cleavers they blow out as well but I learned from good people on here to do just that Feather the throttles..I will try these props just for $hits and grins..
What props do you guys recomend with the new changes..I want to be at about 5000 rpms and dont really care about cruise speed ..Thanks again for all the info and advice

The TRS was rated for a 16" prop, the TR for a 20" prop. Merc always would have left a little wiggle room as well so I can understand a fingers gap while using a 16" prop on a TRS. Doesn't a spacer add length abover the cavitation plate, therefore leaving the potential prop diameter the same?

Just found theese TRS sport Cleavers for sale and they are 17 diam. The ones you have may have been like theese then cut down to 16.5 diam.
