Not a 496 but with a stock 502MAG I ran right at 70mph. A little more on a good day and a little less on a bad day. My X is 17 or 17.5(I can't remember for sure).
Fastest prop was a standard Mirage but is slipped like crazy at cruise and offered a very "loose" feel at WFO. Mirage + slipped less but was slower.
Rev4 was by far the best 4 blade. A little slower than the 3 blades(about the same as a Mirage + though)but handled much better and is a great rough water prop.
My boat hates a stock Bravo prop. I tried a labbed Bravo that had some bow lift built into it and it was better but not as good as the Rev4.
I did try a Hydro QIV and it was okay but took a ton of trim to loosen up. I think with a higher X the QIV would work better.
I now run a Turbo Lightning or Rev4. IMO my boat would respond well to a shorty. These boats have good natural bow lift and using less trim would help the boat ride flatter and get better forward thrust. Just my $.02.
Tomas how about some new pics?

My first prop to try will be a Rev4 25P, with my 1.35 drive it might be pretty good. I have a labbed 27P P5X with a smaller diameter that might work but most likely it's to big...

The project has been down for a couple weeks since I have relocated to a new house but today I will try to bring the Pantera home! I will get you some new pics

My Pantera is old and heavy but very empty with no interior.
A friend of mine has a 1996 or 1999 24 Pantera with a 496 with std exhaust and he hits 75 and then some.

FINALLY I have now tested my 24 Pantera!
1979 24 Pantera with adjusted strakes and pad and a blueprinted bottom. Race ready no interior etc.
496HO with CMI Sport tubes and Gibson bullet mufflers
Bravo One X with g/r 1.36 (new with zero hours)
The X-dim is pretty high at 18" with the standard measuring but since my pad now looks like in the pic it's 1/2" more (18.5"). The back of the pad is filled 1/2" and the front section is completely filled to make a more conventional pad. Very small but still...
The inner strakes are about 2 to 2-1/2ft longer with a straight end.
Standard 25P Rev 4
On the absolutely first test run it only ran 63mph but after a couple miles of testing, stopping, checking everything is ok with the motor etc it finally loosened up.
Then I got to 77.5mph during a short run, I didn't want to push it too hard since I wanted to make sure everything was working first - so there's most likely more to come. I must have mixed up the hoses to the drive trim pump since I can't trim it up without letting of the throttle.
With a labbed P5X 27P with a smaller diameter I got to 75mph at around 4600rpm.

Update!
79.5MPH at 5050rpm with the Rev4!
It looks like the rev limiter kicks in at 5050rpm in the recording from the ECM. The rpm goes up pretty quick and then it sticks at around 5050.

Absolutely no problem getting on plane with two people tools, 3 extra props, fuel etc.
78mph@4800-5000rpm somewhere.
I did gain some speed with the Rev 4 though 79.6mph with two people and more load that last time, (when I was alonoe in the boat with less fuel).

IMPRESSIVE MAN! What kind of HP does that motor put out with your few mods??
Ive got a 91 Sunsation Rocket 24x7 with at 454ci/500hp supposedly...
Running that same standard bravo 26p I hit just over 70mph @ 4900
Obviously a few difference between our 27x7s, wonder how much that Bravo X and hull work make a difference?
Would love to see mid-high 70s, but wonder if that 500HP number is accurate and/or if its possible with just a prop change...
Any advice? Thanks, Chris

THe power would be 425 plus whatever the CMI's add and what the Bullet mufflers removes so maybe a total of 450HP.
The Bravo X is just a standard Bravo with a couple parts with added strength. My prop shaft is about 3-1/2" below the bottom.
My bottom needed alot of work to get is straight and sharp so that should have given me a few MPH, and then it's the weight.
The Pantera is completely empty and stripped from anything that I don't need. Total race weight complete with all the equipment and gear I need for racing (just about 100Lbs) and 20 gallons of fuel is 3850Lbs.
You should try a 25P Rev4, I got the same RPM's with it as with the 26P Bravo.
