Slow down FIXX.
We put the prop back to stock spec for baseline testing and Pat installed mufflers in-between the first testing and the last. This addition slightly dampered performance. We are looking for another alternative propeller option. If you had read this correctly you might have caught the whole story rather than looking for flaws. Brett |

WOW really? 6 more mph and only 100 rpm difference... i got to try this on mine,,so all i have to do is remove the mufflers to get 100 more rpm and 6 mph..

Last time I checked 71 - 68 = 3, but maybe that changed recently. :party-smiley-004:

Fixx, if you read the entire thread Pat asked double b to put the prop back to totally stock to run as a baseline...

We have had great results with the Turbo on stock 502's. On the stronger stock 502's a 26 TXP with no vents is the ticket. Both props settle the boat down compared to the Mirage, you will like driving them. We are planning to have some test props at the Lake George event if you want to play around a bit...

ok so you put the prop back to stock?? so your saying that its a waste of time to lab a mirage style prop, because you put it back to stock spec and it ran faster..i would have thought for all the money you charge to do a prop you would have gave it your final touch of labing..
The repair to stock from a worn prop with washed out cups and some tracking issues caused the propeller to become more efficient creating a lower slip without adding much rpm. Now, the Labbing would absolutely be a great option. As far as your comment on "all the money you charge" makes no sense since Mr. McPherson paid for a repair not a Lab job. We also have the TXP and Turbo 1 props for testing for anybody who would like to try them on their own. We can ship them anywhere in the US. Thanks, Brett |
Yes, my last test showed 71gps @ 4650 with 2 people 1/2 tank (probably less), no mufflers.
First tests were done with 2 and 3 people, full down to 1/2 tank, mufflers installed; top speed was 68gps at 4500+rpm. The mufflers do rob power for sure and not only on top; I think can feel a difference in acceleration. I should also clarify I live on a river and the current can add or subtract to GPS speed. I do try to check both directions... |
sounds like boat is running well ,one thing to note is the tach on that boat is about 200rpm lazy when i checked it against my shop gauge, low 70s with no mufflers sounds about right

I'm happy with 70 on the GPS until I have the cash to add external steering. Just going to test a couple props to see if there is a better option. No plans to lab a prop for top speed this year... |
