Picked up the drive pieces from sand blasting yesterday. Extension boxes are off to machining for required mods, everything else headed to paint.

Also picked up a few engine parts from powder coating.

you should get a hold of my dad he has spent the time to creat water cooled headers for the diesels. I believe he is planning on putting them for sale to the public. the ones he has built for his cheetah are in the polish shop now.
here is a link to a picture of one when it was getting welded up.

There nice, I might ask you for a price to do a custom set for my Seateks, currently cast Aluminium with anodised coating but stainless would be much better.

I originally wanted to go with a centered setup just like those on this build, but timeframe and the Banks intakes we chose didn't fit. I'll defiantly send him some future work if he's interested. Toss a link to those over in the DIY topic for me please.

These run $3600 a pair, 45 days lead time. You still have to build the up pipes to go with them..

Ken what is the overall length of the Duramax engine and gearbox, what space do you have to play with in the engine bay.

That's a great question... I don't recall right off what the overall engine length was. I just dropped the mock up motor back off at the engine shop, so will have to check that this weekend. It's about the same length as a BBC, and the Coan transmission is only about 12-14" long. Plenty of room forward in the engine bay, these boats also came with a triple option.

Ken engine length was a challenge for me with my engine being a straight six, engine and box were 65" long I needed 5" free at the front to change the sea water impellor and the engine bay length was 77" that only left me with 7" to fit in a 10" long double UJ output shaft.
Solution was to run the output shaft through the transom make an extension box for the drives and couple it to the ASD8 inside the extension box.

Worked a treat scatter shield yet to fabricate.

That's a slick way to gain a few inches. Did you need to use a CV joint or just a regular 2 joint shaft?

Looks like we will have about 20" of driveshaft. I'm cutting these extension boxes down to 8" from 12" and adding couple degrees of up angle, So engines will need a matching tilt to go with it.

Went with a regular 2 joint shaft, everything is a challenge with this, especially when I have to design and build the parts in the UK then travel to the US to find out if everything fits and works out.

Are you shorting the extension boxes because they wont be housing the gearboxes anymore? I gather the Shifter design had the gearbox in the extension box a bit like a 7M?
