I have built more boats than I can remember, most race boats, and all of them had hand assembled hose ends and I have never seen one fail before. if one did it is most likely that the person used a different brand hose end than the hose which is a big no-no. different manufacturers can have very slightly different outer hose diameters than can effect the compression on them.

Just think of all the time you would have saved if you used a crimping machine for all those boats 😅

Ryan,

I’m not so sure. The issue for me would be the fact that you have to fish the hoses through the boat, establish lengths, pull them out, crimp them, then fish them through again. Assembling them doesn’t really take that long.

Thanks. Brad.

Hose Assembly

Thanks. Brad.
Personally I would not be installing fittings in the boat, I would be doing it in a vice. I have never used these fittings though so I do not know how easy they assemble.

Ryan,

Not gonna lie, it IS a PITA. I ended up taking a 4” lathe chuck up in the boat and using it to clamp on the ferrule. This was a LOT easier than the two-wrench method the guy makes look so easy in the video.

Thanks. Brad.

Guys,

So, for the purpose of running the engine on the stand, I can just connect the PS pump output to the return line going back to the reservoir, correct? No real pressure there without the orbital valve and/or hydraulic cylinder in the circuit, right?

Thanks. Brad.
