Gelcoat is really nice and thick. I hit mine up with leverage at the start of the season and it shines like a brand new boat.

best prop ever for a scs

502SCS 09-26-2009 07:13 PM

Works well for me
Like I sais a smidge tall on the bottom and have to work with the trim to make it to WOT RPM with 4 or more people and a full tank.
It will pull outta the watter like a drag boat with 1/4 tank and just me in the boat... And goes all the way to being a sea plane at the top end :-) Well past the factory rated 76 (80+ GPS) It is a handfull above 72 or so .. have to be on your toes and look for the chin walking and be ready to nose it back in a bit .. Keep in mind I have no tabs

freshwaterfiend 09-28-2009 02:21 PM

Yeah, I'm running the same prop. It actually has too much lift for the SCS. It's a high lift hull so doesn't need a lot of help from the prop. For comparison sake I ran a stock 3 blade 27" Mirage (not Plus) that had less lift and the boat was like a rock at WOT even in water that could have upset it. When I tweak the 502 I'm going to get a custom prop done at Throttle Up so that it's rock steady flat out. It's a great hull for speed, you just need the appropriate prop.

whats wrong with lift ? thats the fun part ,get it loose and fly that thing ,and put your life vest on !

freshwaterfiend 10-01-2009 10:11 PM

The faster you go the more lift everything generates and at way higher speeds than stock, like 80+ the boat is hard to control. Knock out some of that lift, the boat has enough wetted surface to be stable and it's way easier to control. I think with the right prop, 85mph on this hull is a cakewalk.

Yeah its a really really nice boat. Their price was firm, we payed almost full pirce, couldnt even talk them down below 23k.

The boat looked exceptional. I really want one with the movie graphics though but I would have made an exception.

txpilot83 10-06-2009 06:44 PM

http://www.boattrader.com/search-res...2DLength:DESC/. Loos like another super clean scs. It says 99 but I thought 98 was the last year for the scs. Asking 27k for an scs with a 7.4L seems too high though.

freshwaterfiend 10-07-2009 10:04 AM

That's a really nice trailer! And one of the better SCS's I've seen.

There are some issues with it though, mainly the compass and the windshield is missing.

Also, that steering doesn't look OEM to me. Standard stuff was IMCO attached right to the Bravo casing. At least on my boat.

Also, no tabs.

High price for only a 7.4MPI IMO.

scarabrun 10-08-2009 07:10 AM

looks clean and over priced !

txpilot83 10-14-2009 06:06 PM

Has anyone installed subs in an SCS? Ive never seen any in an SCS before. I was thinking of making a box that would fit perfectly on that platform in the nose of the cabin and fit flush against the walls so you couldnt tell it was aftermarket. Any ideas? I want to make it out of this stuff ( http://www.interstateplastics.com/se...e&byindustry=1 ) and secure by covering the back and botton with velco and do the same to the platform in the cabin so i wont have to drill any holes in the boat.

I thought trim tabs and indicators were standard on the SCS. Also zero effort controls. Most came with a mag 454 or 502.
I have a 1999 brochure. It shows the 23, the 22 stopped production in '98.

Hi Michael,

Can you scan and post the 99 brochure? I'd love to see it.

Thanks.

Damn they really trimmed that drive out to get a rooster like that!

502SCS 11-03-2009 12:46 PM

my 4 blade will do that with moderate trim ... Works well for the show

freshwaterfiend 11-03-2009 02:43 PM

What's moderate trim and what speed do you do it at?

We have the same motor and the same prop (26" 4-blade Mirage plus) and the same year boat so I'm thinking same X-dim. I need to know this trick!

502SCS 05-06-2010 08:24 PM

Well guys I am going to take a offer of 18K for the SCS
I was asking 24 and I thought that was cheap but thanks to this crappy economy I am taking 18 for it ..

I have a 23 scarab scs with close to 600hp and need help with a prop. I was running a 26 4 blade that was labbed and at 80mph was at 6000 RPM. Last weekend I bent the prop past repair. Just wanting some feedback if I sould pitch up to a 28 or 30 and since it is a left hand drive boat it a left hand rotation prop would be a better choice?

If your boat pulled hard and fast to 80 and went to 6 grand easy then get someone to let you try a 29 3 blade or step up a click on 4 blade ... I have heard that some of the new props are great but I did not try any of them

Thanks for the help! I have been asking around town and I can't find one to try out so I think I am going to order a factory mercury 28 and if it is too much prop then I will have it labbed for more RPMs. Have you tried a left turn prop on yours? It makes sense to me because it is a left drive boat. One more question is the carbin fiber piece around the trim buttons has cracked on me, do you know where to get them?
Thanks for the help!

502SCS 06-11-2010 02:09 PM

Yea because my boat was almost stock and a 29p 3 blade was too big but the 26p 4 blade worked real nice
So with the extra HP you should be able to bump those numbers up
Back in this post a couple of years you will find my posts if you search
