Default What will happen to Scarab?

Since the molds have been sent to California and are not apart of Wellcraft anymore will Larry still produce them as its own brand-name? or is Scarab history?

Yes Larry has always owned the Scarab name and the molds, but Wellcraft bought the the rights to produce it. I just wonder what will happen to them now that they are not in Sarasota anymore

Hmm, so the rumors have basically merit or are true? That explains why you can't get anyone from Wellcraft's attention when you call with a question.

Sorry to hear about recent developments, but I suppose it's better for the "brand" in the long run if Larry can resurrect the mystique of Scarab.

Mike, is it true we'll only see a 43' Poker Run type boat next year? Also, what will this do (if anything) to current Scarabs on the market? Increase in demand and street price, decrease it or just fade away?

Default Dealer says:

i talked with a dealer that sold scarabs until early this year and this is what he says:

1. Royalty agreement w/ L. Smith was too expensive given the market for offshore boats (which sucks right now)
2. Wellcraft wants to reneotiate it to a more favorable terms so by not building them (except fishing models) will mean lower $ paid to L. Smith and they get a lower royalty cost.
3. Well craft wants to start building the offshore racer style again in about 2 years at the lower royalty.

All this is free information and worth every penny!

Famous last words.

My guess is another manufacturer will pick up the line, or Larry Smith may do them on his own (investors?).
