https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b924253c8.jpeg The left trim cylinder came in today and I installed after I set the toe. I’ve still gotta connect the hydraulics but I’ll probably wait til I get some better hydraulic fittings. Maybe brass if I can find the right size. I’ve got a list of things I want to get done before we run it. Looking forward to spring |
I kept getting a nagging leak on the left trim cylinder from where I thought was the seal, then I replaced the o ring, still oily. Then I saw this tiny pinhole…
Instead of replacing it I picked up a spool of stainless wire and I’m just gonna weld it up. Rik would send me another one but I’ll just have a shiny weld the size of a pencil eraser on the back of the port trim cylinder no big deal. Y’all don’t tell anybody lol, I’m close to being done changing the drive oil. (2 different cavities in each drive) Also gonna change the engine oil and blower gear oil. I ordered another case of engine oil today. Also finally getting around to replacing the port alternator belt, which has been a lawnmower belt this whole time 😆 That’s the only really ghetto thing I’ve done. Also got some black harmonic balancer covers to replace the chrome ones, chrome ones very hard to set timing on. I got Daniel under the trailer Thursday to go over and tighten all nuts and bolts just because. Also Rik is getting me some fresh hydraulic fittings for the drives. The ones I’m running got stained up from the time in Miami in 2024. Literally the only thing that showed any signs of salt. Happy to get all this maintenance stuff done and looking forward to a good boating season. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4f8ff77fc.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...25ddee829.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c657fc536.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c86287693.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c8a0dcee3.jpeg |
Trim cylinder worked perfectly. I don’t have a photo of the weld on my phone right now. Sarge painted a mural on my trailer toolbox. At first I wasn’t sure about it but I’m all in now. It’s not honkin loud but it’s pretty cool when you look at it closely. It took me a while to figure out these 17.25x37 props require 4400 rpm to get on plane. They’re really a little too small a diameter for this application. Some 6 blade 18x35-37 would prolly be about right.
We ran the boat yesterday and today. Burnt over 100 gallons of gas. We went to Guntersville today. It was very windy and I had an uhoh against the dock at city harbor. First real paint damage to speak of. After my initial reaction I wasn’t too upset. Yeah it stinks but I know somebody who can fix it. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c64c687fc.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...63153fe6a.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...e29b6940a.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...02f47f9a8.jpeg |
Glad its all running good! Enjoy the ride!

I like that you use a OBS to pull it!

I hate unprotected docks, not too bad though. Love the tow truck! My dad had one that was all white. When he passed, I sold it to a friend of mine that owned a transmission shop. He drove it until he passed. I Lost track of the truck.

Love the mural, a nice touch.:)
(lucky you know someone who can fix that little dock incident….haha) |
I bought this truck in 2017 for 8000, had about 175,000 on it. About 250,000 now. I have zero desire for a new truck. My upholstery guy is recovering some leather King Ranch leather seats. The old trucks like an old baseball glove, now it’ll smell like one. 😀

Winston repaired the white and sprayed it. We just stayed in the white. Broke the clear on the stripe edge. On the blue I mixed some clear with hardener with the blue base and brush touched it
