Keep up the great work! I stumbled upon your last boat build and got to read the whole thing entirely. In contrast, waiting for you to post progress on this thread is suspenseful!

cheers,

Roland

Taken 7 years to squeeze a second post out of you ^^ so it must be a good thread.

I really enjoy the updates, great work and no doubt will be even better than his previous work.

Sorry for the bad quality of those photos, new iPhone and photobucket is buggy and hard to use. I’ll get it figured out.

What more do you know about your boat and how long did it sit in Canada before the rescue adventure?

Turns out the boat didn't sit as long as we had previously thought. Instead of being last registered in 1991, it was last registered in 1998 in Michigan. I tried to contact the last registered owner but didn't hear anything back. 607 and 706 hours showing on the hour meters so the boat was well used when it was being used. Surprising how nice the bottom is. Only a gouge up front below the bow ring. Other than that just about perfect, doesn't even appear to have ever been beached.

Little more tonight. I spent some time grinding around the gunnels and engine and cockpit opening. We also spent some more time removing rot from the fairing area. we thought we were almost done and discovered more rot below (above) where we were working at the base of the fairing. This area had rotted thru the cockpit cover snap screw holes. we have some more rot removing and grinding to do before we glass in the coring in this area.

Surprisingly the wood under the compass wasn't rotted at all..

Does anyone know what this gauge is? Mine is very deteriorated, to the point I can't tell what it was. I'm thinking it may have been for a depth meter?

The extra gauge, my guess is engine sync or rudder indicator......?

It is a depth finder. the needle inside spins around and it strobes at the current depth
