The downside to the clamshells with the factory spring stays is if you get in some rocking side to side with them up they can fall at any time. Either way I’m going to have to go with some motorized closures. I wasn’t able to work muck today. That last picture makes the deck look a mile long. I know it's super long but the angle of that picture makes it look like a flat road in the desert that just keeps going off into the horizon.

Another vote here for the side opening clamshell style for all the reasons other's mentioned. What's with the spring setup you refer to? Is that so girls can work on the boat ? Just use prop rods that lock in place to hold them up.

Haven’t had much time to work on it the last few days. Been sick as a dog, then had a wedding to go to today. I think everybody’s married off now. When they drilled this hole for a wire to go through this stiffener, they drilled into the wiring harness luckily the wires did not ground out over the boats life and burn the thing up. |

Little more done yesterday. Got the coring cut out for the bow rail area. I cut it out of 3/4” instead of 1/2” like what it had. It’s going to be laid down neater than what they had, which was pretty sloppy. To cover the area I cut out of the divinycell I decided to lay down some 3/4” wood over it instead of reusing the old pieces I cut out. I beveled the edges on about a 45 angle. When the headliner material goes on it’ll look like it’s supposed to be this way. I’ll hole saw smaller holes for the bow rail nuts and install small headliner colored clips in the holes. If you remember, these boats all have cracks where the bow rail raised area in the middle of the deck meets the fairing. How was your original headliner? Mine had 15"ish wide, mirror down the middle. I'm going to copy the original design but just use ultra leather and no mirror. I think I have a picture of the original, at the start of my thread.
