Team Archer...

You really have the original molds for those? I don't want to hijack Hblair's tread, but I'm curious and have a couple questions if you don't mind me to ask, and hopefully answer!

how long did you have those molds and how or why did you buy them? when was the last time they were used to pop a hull and deck? How much would it cost in today's market if you were asked to do it to built a new boat, let's say the 38 ? and i don't remember seeing a 46... any pictures of that?

They are all the original Larry Smith molds I have worked with Larry Smith for the past 25 years building all of his pet projects. Price depends on the build and materials all of our boats are hand laminated Vacuum bagged cored .

does vacuum badge means a lot lighter? if not, what is the advantage?

Team Archer 02-02-2018 08:29 PM

Stronger and lighter

No problem Dan, have you guys ever put notches in the molds or experimented with them at all?

hblair 02-02-2018 09:05 PM

By the way, how fast did the Gentry 46’ boat end up going? Such an awesome boat. You guys had it looking top notch.

All the 46s I believe had notches, and both 43s I have at the shop have them and I know the there were a few 38s built with them. We've run just over 100 MPH but we haven't run the new props yet we are taking it out in a couple of weeks. Also if you are going to run Arneson's you don't want a notch.

Did some more today. Got the rest of the center stringer cleaned out which was tough to say the least. Very hard to get a good angle with the sawzall and the pry bars. Standing on the 45 degree angle hull was a lot of fun too. Anyway got the center stringer out, got the front bulkhead tabbed in, the mini center stringer in front of it installed, the floor piece tabbed on top of it, and the main center stringer tabbed in and a piece of 1708 over the front of it...
