I know a lot of people want a 100+ MPH go fast or crazy fast cat, but I think this project is off the chart !!! I got some old Miami Vice Soundtrack if you need copies !! I really like the paint work on post #849.

I like the grey/silver style too and I’ll probably paint my boat like this, but I’m not suggesting it. This Scarab is so special, it deserves the Miami Vice colors to stand out from the crowd

I hate blocking out a pickup truck hood. I can't believe the amount of work going into this.
It is going to be a work of art!
Thank you, keep the updates coming!

Thanks a lot guys. Yeah I’ll be sticking with the ol Miami Vice theme. I’ve had this boat 4 years this month. It’s been a long time coming. Jeff I have a Hutchins hustler air file that sands fast and does a good job but you just can’t beat a 30” long block for getting something this big straight. Only problem is it kills you lol.

Billy’s got the instrument panel masked for polyester tomorrow. I’ll be using the k planes off my 30 footer. The original ones to this boat have the external hoses that go thru the transom and look like they could be a source for transom rot later on. I’m gonna be super careful and miss the stringer when I drill the holes. I’ll have to glass up the old outer holes from the previous k planes.

That gray cigarette is a sharp looking boat too. Thanks for the photo.

If I remember correctly, the k planes installation manual recommends a space of 3/4 to 1 inch spacing between the bottom of the hull and the plane but I must check if I have a copy lying around

Looking at your helm, the face the steering mounts, I see the holes for the ignition switches, the holes for the kill switches, maybe a cigarette lighter hole but what's the other one for?

Good eye Andy, that’s apparently a 12 volt accessory port for something (don’t know) I’ve been meaning to fill in for 2 years. I’ll do that later. I can’t find my cigarette lighter port to save my life (after I hole sawed the dash for it)

I drilled for and fitted the k planes, little over an inch from the bottom. Also drilled and fitted the water pickups Dan Mcnamara of team archer gave me a while back. Thanks Dan. Also fitted my pretty pimpin bilge drain. I’ve still gotta purchase a few pieces of hardware for the exterior like the bilge dump and 6 of the stainless vents.

Can you tell I’m looking forward to seeing it painted?
