I listed your boat on Serious Offshore as well.....good luck! If I had the dough sitting around I would snatch that up quick! Do you have any parts for sale? |

My buddy has a 1989 43' Kevlar Don Johnson edition (VIN is verifiable) with triple 525SCs.
He is interested in selling if someone is looking. Was just re-done. |

Anyone know about this boat in Long Island?? A 38KV Miami Vice edition? Need to track this one down and add it to the list of known boats on the Wellcraft 38KV Miami Vice editions website on Facebook.
Any leads appreciated!

Also JetJock I saw in another thread your boat has 500efi's...Did you do that yourself...? I assume you still run TRS with standard props? you obviously think it is worth considering an engine swap for more grunt despite sacrificing originality??
|
I bought my boat with the 500EFIs.....I also have bravo I's with 28 props. I like the ease and reliability of the EFIs, didn't affect the look of the boat...so no problems.
Plan on doing some work on her this winter.....still love the boat after 5 years! |

http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/boa/3517218524.html That boat was abandoned in Miami it is the Season 5 boat in Miami Vice and owned by a German Auto company for many years. Someone needs to buy this one the restore it....it is a piece of history! |

ok ...I was on this boat yesterday, she is rough ,but solid, needs stripped and total restoration.. is 90% complete, needs time and $$$$$$
I did not see any evidence that she sunk? It would need some serious work....I hope someone takes the challenge (at least someone we all know and can keep it in the family so to speak) If anyone can add to the mystery feel free to do so...... |

Nothing special about the boat --- At the time I was selling boats at Copper Kettle and had a chance to turn a buck ! Sorry to say I only had the boat less than two weeks .... A new home was more important than a new boat at the time and the bucks were used to pay for the for the house..nice down payment.

Jim Any chance you have records of the HID# or pics? I'm compiling a registry of the Vice Editions Wayne |
Wayne, sorry it was a long time ago when Sandy Satullo owned the place and his kid Sandy jr. sold the place a long while ago and the records are gone..... I cant even go back to Wellcraft ; everyone I knew is long gone and they are out of business in Sarasota .. Records probably got thrown in the dumpster,A really sad state of affairs, of course a lot of the biggest boat companies have gone belly up..30 years ago if someone told me what would happen ,I would have told them they were full of crap!!!!!!!
Jim |
Very sad
I have frequent Vice boat conversations with Bill Erickson and he's pretty sure the records are lost too. |
Jim, I know Sandy had copper kettle boats Bertram, Cigarette, corsa, gara (tempest) xk22. Did he have a scarab Copper Kettle boat?
|
Boy did he ever!!! It was a big bad ass 38 with arnseson's and the biggest motors Wellcraft could put in the boat at the time. The boat had everything you could put in it at the time --- every option and custom paint ....Just a toy for him and Im not sure how well it ran at the time .Had some problems with it as I remember.Bob McFarland was working on it all the time,,,,,, Not positive about it but there was something special about the Arnesons too.
Jim It was his ride back and forth to Rattlesnake Island. |
Whats Erickson doing now ??Is he retired ?
Jim |
Cigboat1, I have plenty pictures of Copper Kettle boats but I have never seen one of the Scarab. I may have seen the back end of it years ago in the boat house in the Clifton Lagoons. I'm pretty sure Sandy Jr. gave Bob Sr. the boathouse few years back. I guess 'ill have to track down Bobby Jr. see if he can get a hold of any info on it.
