Actually the one in Finland was delivered to the TV-company who then gave it to DJ officially (taxing I suppose) or then the TV-company just let DJ use it, but it was also used as a prop boat and was painted over to the 1988 livery or why would it be oversprayed if not used in the show too?
It´s signatured inside also by the builders on the laminate And I believe you heard it from me first on a MV-site.
It was actioned 1989 with all the other props and the plaques might be added by the TV-company to boost the prices up on all the 3/6 boats.
I´ve heard rumours that there´s more than these two with the plaque (which seems to differ on both boats) but the German boat which is listed as a 1990 boat (hull no a 1989 and the series ended 1989) doesn´t have it as neither does it come up in any pics on the show either.

Edit: the first season boat ( the one in USA) does also have somekinda plaque but it´s black.

Ferraristyle one with a black arch??
Don´t you mean a silver with dark sides, thats the one over here that my friend has and it´s the one which is resprayed wrong as you see in the pic I provided ?
Now you also forgot the one with the silver arch, which I believe the dark sides got installed later in the show.
Also the German one has one like it (silver/dark sides).

The number of the boats being 6 comes from the MV-crew stating that but sofar I know 3-4, the first season boat in USA, the Camera boat in Norway, the 3rd season (and maybe 2nd too) told to be used by DJ personally (I don´t count out the one in Norway also being used by him) and the one ? in Germany.
If the one in Germany is real it´s seen only on Episode 111, Freefall, in one take sitting still on the docks if my memory doesn´t fail me.

So apparently there´s more than one.
At least this one over here is 100% genuine and I personally have traced it as being delivered new by Wellcraft to the TV-company.
I´m told the one in Oslo is a Camera boat as it doesn´t have the Race/blower Hatches therefore not DJ´s personal boat but a MV boat nonetheless.
Is it a 1986 model as this one here is a 1987 and has the race hatches.
There´s not a single pic of a 38KV in the series with a engine lid without the race hatches.

ANyways, we now have proof that there are two boats with a bronze plaque. If there are more it would be most interesting to see the plaques here. Could you help me out with new instruments. (The old ones are completely shot.)

Thanks Johs

There´s people here that restore gauges but it´s not worth the price actually, the ones on the Finnish boat is VDO´s so unfortunately the original ones are also shot so no, can´t help you with that.
I´d love to get hold of the genuine gauges too although they should be ordinary Merc gauges from one of the series they made.
The camera boat is in good use in one of the episodes where they are on a stakout in a boatshed.
(Edit..Payback seassn 3)

Yes I would also like to see more of these plaques up close.
Apparently the TV-company added these plaques to boost the prices in the auction.

I can confirm that the camera boat is in Oslo. There are 4 small holes in the gelcoat on each side of the front deck. As several others around different locations, although with new gelcoat on top.
There are also signatures in the cabin and indications that it was in time handed over to Don Johnson.

Anyways thanks for all the help. Let's keep the originals in Scandinavia.

Seems the Signatures inside and out are on both boats.

So apaprently don had yours first and then it became the camera boat?
The one in Finland was told at some time being also used as a stunt boat?

Can´t blame you but if you´d have it still today you´d soon find out it´s slow and underpowered to todays boats.
Life moves on... but the (sweet) memories remain.
Despite it wouldn´t be nice to find out nowadays even that boat could been subject to the Wellcraft (Scarab) syndrome and still own it...

I just purchased the first MV KV from Tom in New York. It is the one from the Thousand Island region. It has extensive documentation. He did a fantastic job on the restoratin. I had it in the water in Lake Erie this weekend. What a blast! The boat will be used in the Erie Island area from this point forward.
