Don't think I'd go any higher than even with the bottom not having a notch. Different boat I know but I'm even with the bottom, with a notch and boxes and it takes forever to plane. Runs great once...

I basically built 600sc clones. Only difference is my cams, intercoolers and more boost. Good reliable relatively maintenance free motors.

I wouldn't worry about draining fuel. I bought a boat with 454mpi's that sat for 5 years and I just ran as much out as possible not running it hard, filled it with fresh and never had an issue

Hard saying. They claim the shaft will take the adjustment up or down to the other holes but mine is setup dead level in the middle holes. I'm not surprised they can't build two boats the same. Lol

I built 600sc clones and turned the boost up for the stock 4-5psi to 10-11psi and can still put a little 87 in it if I think I need some and can't find 93. Don't think I'd run it empty and fill it...
